What he was really doing was getting the books farther in the red because he was secretly planning to sell the company to an investor. I helped build that company and got completely screwed. What's happened is that the number of high-school women who went on to college in that same time skyrocketed from about 21% to about 57%. It was easy to sell impressionable young women on the idea of "empowering" college degrees. Men have traditionally found meaning and purpose in providing and protecting for their families through a committed marriage. That's over now. Marriage today is a side hustle for lifetime alimony and child support. The state has regulated the terms of your pre-nup even if you don't remember even ever signing one- it's there waiting for you. You'll lose your your home, most of your possessions and you'll get to visit your kids twice a month if you're lucky. And God forbid if she chooses to even insinuate some form of abuse. Because then it's your freedom at stake as well. The smartest thing that men can do, is simply opt out.

In fairness back in the 1950s women HAD to be fit and feminine or they were going to be destitute. Also we were the true winner of world war 2. Japan was levelled, Germany was levelled, Poland got levelled, England had it's fair share of being hammered. The United States were the true winner of world war 2. You couple us having a world class industrial complex AND women still needing provisioning created a situation where the average guy could have a reasonably attractive woman at his side giving him the motivation to keep soldiering on. Keep in mind a lot of men did not come back after world war 2 across the world so there was a scarcity of men. With the current feminist imperative men have 2 options. Either blow their wives metaphorical penis or say to hell with it and walk away. Men are not as agreeable as women biologically speaking so men are quitting this role that society has shoved into our faces... at least the men with some spine and self respect. The 2 genders are going to have to come back to the table and have a complex and potentially idealistically soul crushing discussion on both ends.

I'm reading this book right now called "weapons of the weak" (James c Scott) that'd about the history of non violent forms of resistance. Foot dragging, evasion, feigned Ignornace, pilfering, cheating the system, etc etc. But also _why_ populations resort to doing these things. When open revolt is too impractical but it's clear the ruling elite doesn't care about you (and in fact openly detest you), there's no reason to contribute. In our modern world, day after day were bombarded with propoganda about how awful men are and about how we need to make continual sacrifices for women and minorities when it's clear they're just milking the benefits of affirmative action while men; white men in particular do all the actual work. And the coproate elite is *SO* absurdly out of touch, they need "studies" to piece together why men are fed up and not playing the game anymore. This is how civilizations collapse. Not from war or catastrophe but by enough people refusing to be a part of it. We look at the fall of empires as massive events, but nobody seems to talk what led up to that. Mass non compliance are the gradually increasing shoals on which the ship of state will eventually crash upon.

Economists, in my experience, do not really see human nature as a thing, we are alljust the same economic unit. Even behavioural economists have no concept.
@codyvandal28607 ай бұрын
Precisely. The regard human beings as interchangeable economic units which can be shuffled around the globe without consequence. Social, cultural, and political realities that are obvious to others are "outside the scope" of their field and so they aren't taken into account. It's a presupposition of their entire professional identity.

There are some economists who see things, who are insightful and understand what's going on. The biggest issue with the mainstream economists is they are eggheads and socially isolated academics who have near zero human experience. They don't understand how to human, because they don't live or work around humans, their entire experience is in their parallel dimension. To be successful economists, one must understand human nature, and most of them don't believe in the concept of human nature to begin with, so there we are.

Why provide to a society that hates me?
@deejay8ch7 ай бұрын
@straycat156 our transition from being prosperous citizens to becoming serfs makes it feel like hate but it's more that society has become increasingly toxic, hostile, unaccommodating and removed from reality. People that are weak, narcissistic, deranged or sociopathic get into positions of power and abuse it for their own benefit, generally because they're far from OK mentally. Good people then suffer. Good people need to find each other, help each other, work together, and just push back, whatever amount, over time, no matter what. The best revenge is living well, but when 'they' take that option away, the next best thing is to just continue to do the right thing. Egoless resistance is the noblest defiance.

Dude, how could you not include inflation as one of your main reasons men are dropping out of the labor force. There’s no reason to work 60 hours a week when you’re going to be paying the bankers for 30 years for a rundown $500,000 3 bedroom. Why would a man chose to be a slave?

Why are men out of the work force? There are so many reason it would fill a book. But here is just some of the reasons IMO. 1. It became acceptable for adult children to continue to live with their parents. Whether we are talking single mothers or single men, the younger generation see how much it costs to live comfortably in the US. And they know that they won't be able to have that standard of living they grew up with. Broadband internet and central heating and air are things that only became come in homes since the 1990s. Prior to that, kids left home to be on their own because their parents quality of life wasn't much different than what they could experience. Now, that difference is huge. 2. It doesn't matter if the job pays $15 an hour. The younger people see $15 / hour as minimum wage. A job has to pay at least $25/hr to even get people interested. And the younger people expect a low entry job is going to pay like it is management and comes with perks and benefits like they were working at Twitter before Elon Musk came in. 3. Single parent homes. And since women make up the vast majority of these, it has to be said single mother homes. Education isn't pushed at home. Low discipline. No motivation. 4. Too many social services. Even young men now are trying to find ways to get on the social services dime. Programs that were initially intended as a helping hand to unwed mothers has now morphed into something that practically anybody could apply for. 5. Society has broken down. Social media is promoting women to be the prize and they can literally gain a prince charming if they simply screw enough men with resources. The average male now gets ignored. And with that goes any desire to achieve and perform in the work place. And when women do figure out this approach isn't working, men write them off as they have children and have had way to many sexual partners. 6. Taxes. People want side hustles that they can earn money under the table. Local, state, and federal taxes are viewed to be too high by many. Seriously, look at all of your taxes on your paystub and you will probably see that you are losing around 1/4 of your paycheck to taxes. Women can get around this if they have kids out of wedlock on their tax returns. Men generally cannot because they don't get custody of their kids even if they married and then divorced. 7. Laws against men. Whether we are talking divorce court where the partner with the more resources gets racked over the coals or whether we are talking child court where the courts rule in the mothers favor and the child support payments are more than the father can pay and still provide for themselves. At the end of the day, men don't want to gain the resources and risk losing it.
@superdave82487 ай бұрын
@@cordfortina9073 I'm not sure there is anything wrong with one or two. I'm just outlining some of my opinions why men have exited the work force. But with that said, you can never have a "fair living wage" in society. Because as you inflate income, you also inflate prices to cover said income gain for your works. This adds to inflation which leaves you back to where you were originally. Your workers can't make enough to cover their living expenses. People who promote pay increases tend to not realize how that impacts everything else cost wise. That burger you bought off the dollar menu likely didn't cost a "dollar". It probably cost $2. Maybe even $3. Why? Because that inflated salary didn't just go to the buy who cooked the burger and made it, it also went to the guy whose business cuts up the pickles into slices. It covers the guy whose business made and packaged the cheese. It covers the guy at the bakery. The guy transporting the goods. The guy who slaughtered the beef or who made the condiments. That restaurant saw an increase to their supply chain across the board. The cups cost more. The patties cost more. The paper, the sauces, even the utilities all cost more because people pushed a universal salary increase without taking inflation into consideration. Six months after his salary increase odds are that guy is no better off than he was. His gas cost more now. His food definitely cost more now (labor intensive production). His rent went up. His clothes went up. His utilities cost more. ETC. There is always going to be winners and losers in the economic rat race. Trying to level the playing field with a "living wage" doesn't do anything to help anybody.
@badart32045 ай бұрын
@@superdave8248you are missing the mark on inflation. If the worker makes 20% more and goods only increase by 10% this is a win for most of society. If the economic rat race becomes too non competitive and too bad for those at the bottom then they can revolt. The Arab spring for example occurred largely because the conditions at bottom got too bad to be tolerated and thus they overthrew the old regimes aka those who won the past system
