This is just gorgeous! I am having trouble understanding how you decided to cut the various pieces of fabric. Is there somewhere i can watch/listen to your thought process on how you decided to put all the fabrics to the various places? Thanks
@cottagetreasuresquilting92892 жыл бұрын
I basically cut the fabric in the shape of feathers, no matter what the fabric was doing in regards to the design. Like the black and white fabric in the tail feathers. I laid them out with an overall realistic approach to what a rooster should have, red neck for example. Blue black tail. I hope that helps. I played around until it looked right and somewhat followed the cover of the pattern. Have fun with it.
@elfriedeerickson76885 жыл бұрын
Grreat rooster, love the fabrics. One thing I noticed - spraying water on the water soluble marker removes the marks for now. I have used this marker and always washed the whole piece (quilt) to remove ALL residue of the marker. Markings CAN come back if they are not thoroughly removed. Ask me how I know.....

Huge time advantage, less thickness quilting afterwards, no gumming up of the needle.

ii am working on doodle doo I am using steam a seam 2 for the most part I noticed that you put the grid on doodle doo before you added the batting could I add the batting and then quilt it or is it to thick for tats ???

I love this applique method. You make it look so easy. But does this method leave frayed edges exposed? How will it hold up to washing?
@cottagetreasuresquilting92895 жыл бұрын
Yes, This is a raw edge quilt applique technique. The trick I find that works really well to ovoid shredding of the fabric. I go with the highest quality batiks available, and I use designer name brand fabrics like Tula Pink, and Kaffe Fassett. That really helps. Then with your grid pattern, its quite close together. So there should be limited lift and fraying. Yes, mine have held up beautifully after washing.

I guess I have been doing something similar to this all along. I did a pirates quilt for my grand son..put in a ship, ocean, sky, sun and all the ocean animals. Now I see how they did it mine is very similar just not nearly as grand as this...The rooster is beautiful in colors
