Omg. Just found this! This has got to be the best LJG interview I’ve seen. I feel so good hearing the conversation about “punk guilt.” It’s weird living the middle aged suburban life and still supporting the punk ethos. My old hips can’t squat on the curb anymore! lol!

What a great interview! I would love to talk music with Laura like this! Her memories of Green Day at 13 are incredible---and it meant so much for me to see Against Me! open for Green Day a few weeks ago....it was like, "dreams do come true"....you wanted to be in a punk band-you worked hard-you DID IT! I loved seeing it play out and Laura mentioned that at the show, too.Very genuine feelings!

This is my favourite interview with Laura! I love how sensitively the interviewer approaches everything, he'd obviously done a hell of lot of research and it really shows.

At 22:36 it hits me hard. The song The Ocean and then at about 26:30 when she answered the question about why she chose then to transition. I hit that same point of knowing that I needed to either accept that I'm trans or I'm going to kill myself. I was literally waiting to die until I made the decision to transition.

I am right there with you. After learning about Laura by just plugging in something Transgender music related she popped up and I was blown away. I caught myself crying around those same times because yea if I did not Transition 3 1/2 years ago I would have gone down the path of self destruction. Very happy you made the correct choice to Transition.

So yesterday December 23, 2021 was the first time I ever found out about Laura Jane Grace. I am a Transgender Veteran Female. I know I have music locked in my head and after hearing her song Transgender Dysphoria Blues and reading the lyrics it floored me. I instantly cried because those lyrics were exactly what I was feeling. In my quest I was ravish in looking for anything I could find on her and stumbled across this interview. Talk about as authentic of an interview as I have ever seen. I just had to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to see both of you enjoy such a great interview and now I am going to start my journey into punk music quest starting with All of Against Me's albums.

I saw Against Me! in the early 2000s at a little hole in the wall bar in New Orleans called Dixie Tavern that I myself would sing at frequently. Had no idea who they were. But to this day, I remember that show. I remember Laura's amazing stage presence. Something most bands never really learn to exude. Good shit. Also, Laura (if you ever read this), as a singer, basically nobody in your band gives a shit about your lyrics in the studio. This was always my personal experience. For me, Its only until years later that a stranger walks up to you at a show and starts asking you about what you meant in a song, and youre in utter shock and disbelief that anyone ever acknowledged your existence. Band mates are just like that I guess. Heck, I never asked any of my guitarists what they were feeling when they played a certain melody. Thats just what it do.

Ah, Jesus Christ... YES, Millenials know 'Material Girl'. We had the radio, we had cassette tapes, we had parents, etc., just like you did. It's the generation after us that I question, although they had the internet. But what do I know... It's time to stop these types of comments though, it's annoying.
