@wripa, I am from Pakistan and applying for MSc Medical physics at University of Surrey... If I did MSc Medical Physics from UK, can I work in there as a medical physicist... and what is likely hood of that... Is there demand of Medical physicist in UK
@andrewmizumori-hirst4466 Жыл бұрын
There is a demand for Physicists in the NHS to work in various areas, including medical physics, nuclear medicine and radiology. Not sure what the post-study visa requirements are after an MSC. You'd have to check with Surrey

There are medical physics degrees at the University of Surrey and UCL. The University of York has recently introduced a Medical Physics module too.

so you don’t need to go to medical school?
@jacqui103 жыл бұрын
No you don't go to Medical School. If you want to be an Oncologist or Radiologist, that requires Medical School as you are a trained doctor specialising in a specific field. Medical Physicists are studying (and working in) Applied Physics. You need to search for a Masters in Medical Physics program in whichever country you are in, and the program needs to be approved for the certified training program (the one she is currently finishing).

@@jacqui10 Medical physicists are actually doctors, they’re scientists to be specific. People that complete medical school are *physicians* Doctor is a broad term used for scientists, physicians etc Edit: misread ur reply but I’ll keep this comment up anyways!

All good. I try to clarify to people that if you study a stand-alone Masters program in medical physics, you’re not a doctor and you don’t go to medical school. I know many people who studied the masters and moved on to a PhD in the field, so they would have a doctorate (I’m assuming like yourself?) and call themselves Dr.. But most people confuse a radiologist with a Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physicist (DIMP), and the same with an oncologist with a Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist (ROMP). I’m currently completing the masters, and once I do I will still be a physicist, but not a doctor 😊
