I feel the beautiful lady head planter you have can be really worked up and placed next to it. I used to love the covid lockdown small projects you did especially with the grey lady head planter.

It looks so cute! Especially considering that you can’t alter the grass and shrubs. I like the collection of tall cacti against that stark wall, turned out nice even though it was a challenge to work with!

Hi Laura hopefully your neighbor didn’t see this video😂😂😂😂 but I agree with you. Your side of the wall looks so much better. Maybe you can convince your landlord to allow you to pull those hedges from the walk way and you can do 2 more tapestries so it all corresponds together. And still keep the lawn. Just a thought

I forgot all about the front of the house cacti and succulents, you don’t go there often. Everything looks beautiful and will wait patiently for the water fountain planting make over.I really like the look of the Portulacaria minima but get the overgrowth problem. The only thing I like in your neighbor’s garden is the Sago Palm as a backdrop to your design.

Hi Laura! I’m from Santa Barbara and recently moved to Madera, CA at Riverstone, new construction home site. I love succulents and palm trees! There is a lot of clay here which has been “amended” with compost around the house. We currently have grass/concrete, queen palm, olive and persimmon trees around back. I really want to add a bunch of succulents around front and rest of back yard but I’m afraid because I’m not sure what will thrive here and where. Can you please suggest what I can grow in full sun, full and partial sun? I love blue chalk sticks, echeveria, scented olive tree (I know this is not succulent) agaves, and similar looking beautiful succulents. I can’t find my zone because it’s a new build site however, I can throw a rock at a neighbor for proximity of houses built ex. Can you please advise?? BTW I have a modern farmhouse style home w grey brick and I want some nice curb appeal to blend…

I think you have to be careful showing someone else’s yard they may get a fended. Unless they said it was okay.

I hope they see that Laura is stating her own preference, If I were walking past the two gardens, I would stop and admire both. The many years of healthy growth of the sago palm is something I appreciate and respect. The sheared shrubs farther back remind me of Japanese gardens that used sheared shrubs as large boulders might be expected. Vive la difference!
