I loved seeing the little things, like how Laura took the last lug off the pivot wheel and immediately turned her elbow and shoulder toward it to keep it off of her in case it did fall. Common sense is more common on the farm than anywhere. Grant -- 5 hours of persistence on an oil filter and then the joy of success. Life is better when you keep smiling and appreciate the little things! Love you guys attitude and channel!

Been wrenching on semi’s for 30+ years. Get you a strap wrench and long extension. Keep the strap wrench as close to the top of the filter as possible. Also use chassis grease on the o-rings on the fuel filters. The fuel will wash oil off but not grease. Makes them come off easer. Oil on oil. Grease on fuel.

Homemade wrench to remove filters. Take a pipe 3/4 . Diameter. Cut to length you need. Weld a socket on one end. Cut slot in other end the width of a rachet strap. Use a rachet strap. Make a loop in the strap. Slide into slot leave slack on the strap. Slide strap to top of filter . Twist and it will come loose!

Oil filters can be fun Laura! Keep one of those lighter duty 1" tie down straps handy, make yourself a simple ratchet strap for removing some of those tough over tight filters. Use a fingertip in fresh oil to apply a layer of clean oil on the new rubber gasket. PS, check to be sure the old rubber is off the filter case housing first before installing the new filter(s)! -Bob...

hello Laura and Grant. If you come across hard to get off filters again, pierce the filter closer to the top so that so much torque does not have to travel from the bottom to the top. A second and better choice would be to get a proper filter wrench. Have good days!

I use a self gripping 3 prong oil filter wrench. I think Lisle makes it. I also take a punch and knock a hole in the bottom of the oil filter and let it drain. Makes it lighter too. I recommend filling the new filter with oil helps get oil moving in the engine quicker. Keep up the awesome content. Already looking forward to seeing the next video.

You guys always make me smile. Why didn't you fill up the oilfilters first, before screwing them on? When they are upright like here you can fill them so the motor has less time running dry after an oilchange.

Only advice I have is since the oil filters are straight up and down, it is best to put some oil in the first before installing them. It helps when starting up to get oil flowing sooner as to not run the motor dry to long.

Something I always did when changing oil in my Cat engine was to fill the filter with oil prior to screwing it on. This will eliminate the time it takes to build up oil pressure resulting in less wear and tare on the engine. Just saying. Like that tool you use for removing wheel lugs.

Unless you filled the fillers with oil just after You have run the truck, You will have to test the oil level again. When you put new oil Filters on the truck, fill Them with the new oil, Then it saves on topping the oil up later. But just make sure you Check the oil again and Don't over fill it. It is better just under the Mark on the dipstick.
