This is extremely helpful! I'm studying the yamas with several reference books but your board videos cover so much of the topic and I especially love that you include an asana style, pranyama, mantra and mudra for each yama. You're an excellent teacher. thank you for spreading your knowledge in this way xxx

Wow thank you for that very thorough and thoughtful look at the many aspects of Asteya! Another scenario regarding other people’s time is hijacking their time in conversation. For example yaking on and on with a story, experience or whatever without asking for permission for that time.

I learned from a friend that you can grab music from the PodSafe Music Network. Those are all recordings that are in the public domain. Some composers purposefully make their compositions and interpretations available to the public this way. Thanks 🙏🏽 for your explanation of the multiple layers and net balance of stealing.

Me encantan tus clases y videos. Namasté.

I get that it is considered stealing a life to eat meat, but then why are we humans made to NEED animal products as an important source of some B vitamins which are vital to survival? I agree with a lot of points of the yamas but some don't really make sense biologically.

Hey, I totally get what you are saying. Although, biologically, humans don't need any animal products to survive. B12 in particular is not naturally found in plants nor meat, it's a common misconception that B vitamins are only found naturally in meat. In fact, B12 is found naturally in certain soils where livestock graze and it is absorbed through their digestive system, so the animal kinda acts as a middle man for the B12 rather than the supplier. B vitamins are very important for human health, but can easily be taken in the form of supplements. Humans do not need dairy, eggs, or meat to survive and I think the millions of humans living healthily off a plant based diet for thousands of years is evidence of this. I hope this helps :)

I appreciate your point of view & I too struggle with the interpretation of Ahimsa leading to being vegetarian. This video is several years old now and since then I have put a lot of thought into the topic- (now) I dont feel it is a yoga teacher's place to give any dietary advice as this is out of our Scope of Practice & there are very complex health, cultural and personal factors that play into what we eat. It is important to think about what we eat and why as a personal decision, but beyond that I dont like to set any hard rules
