@CrudeAnimation9 жыл бұрын
felixwty2003 I've had homemade chips like this before and they're WAY better imo. Especially if you eat them right away. It's worth doing if you have the time.

muricano i assume? btw what laura said is not correct. a mandolin is an excellent tool in the kitchen and not dangerous at all. u just need a good one. it will come with some sort of thing (idk what its called) where u can put on whatever u wanna slice and u just need to grab that thing and u can slice in lightspeed without cutting ur fingers ever. soak them for 2 hours in water? yeah, theyll do that by themselves... dry them on a cooling rack. takes longer, but doesnt involve any work. fry them in a few batches? do that while ur doing something else in the kitchen. takes literally no time at all if u do it right. and homemade is better and healthier.

BBQ CHIPS!!!! My absolute favorite. Smoky BBQ, Sweet and Tangy BBQ, Mesquite BBQ, Spicy BBQ YES!. Why soak the potato slices in water, what's the purpose? Laura in the Kitchen
@hatrickno229 жыл бұрын
anye76 I believe that soaking them removes the starch which will allow them to crisp better and more evenly
@raneemwaddah68049 жыл бұрын
That will make the starch go away which will make them CRISPY!!
@arthurwalls90913 жыл бұрын
You need to soak the slices first in a bowl of Ice Water for around half hour , then rinse them in some fresh Cold water & let sit for a bit & repeat until the water after sitting is clear ...This pulls the Excess Starch out of the Chips , because UNLESS YOU DO THIS PROCESS THE POTATO CHIPS WON'T GET AS CRISPY AS THEY COULD / SHOULD ...AND EVEN IF THEY DO GET CRISPY ANYWAY THEY WILL PROLLY GET SOGGY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CHIPS UNLESS THEY ARE IMMEDIATELY EATEN ... A PROCESS WORTH DOING & FOLLOWING THE RECIPE COMPLETELY TO GET THE BEST CHIPS ...

BBQ and Sour cream & onion, pleeaaaseee! And I have a question. Is there a healthy option, like baking them in the oven? thx
@QistheLetter9 жыл бұрын
Eliza Taifas I've made potato chips in the oven before! I cut the potatoes the same thickness as in this video and soak them, then I give them a light coating of oil, salt, and cayenne pepper for a kick and bake them for 30 minutes at 400F, Just make sure the potato slices don't overlap each other, otherwise they don't turn out crispy.
@catherinenguyen56129 жыл бұрын
I agree! Those are my favorite two flavors :3

Something I like to do is boil them briefly for about 3 or 4 minutes in water with a splash of vinegar before putting them in ice water to blanch. The vinegar sucks the starch out making the potatoes empty shells and they don't brown nearly as much. That way they look a bit more like a plain white chip.
