When I was 16 years old (in the 1980s), I saw an interview with Lauren Bacall in which she said her main diet secret was not bringing any junk food past the threshold of her home. She clarified that she doesn't have any willpower to no eat it once it's in the house, so if it's not there then she can't eat it. She was just very vigilant to only have healthy food in the home. I have followed that advice ever since. I may have a treat when I go out to a restaurant or a party, but there has never been junk food in my house. A relative tried to bring a big box of junk food into my house "for the kids" once. I told her that we would take care of her and any kids as long as she was in our home, and I took her car keys and put the big box of crap back into the truck of her car. She got the message. I don't play on that one. (Yes, my kids got cake and pizza, etc. at birthdays at home...I just sent all the leftover junk food home with the guests!)

I always look forward to and love your videos, but I dont always comment. I think Lauren is one of the most beautiful women of her time. Her style reminds me so much of Carolyn Basette Kennedy. If you look at what both of these women wore, especially in Lauren's case, so many decades ago, the styles still flow easily into today's fashion. That takes real class to be able to do that. I love that Bacall was ok with her "imperfections", I think they made her even more beautiful!

Miss Bacall did not cheat on her husband, Humphrey Bogart. She stood by him until he passed away. They loved each other very much. I wonder what their children would think about the "click bait" title.
@steveneardley7541 Жыл бұрын
Yes, this is total clickbait bs. She quotes Bacall's memoir, and then segues into all this stuff that is taken out of tabloids and Hollywood Babylon. If I remember correctly, in her first autobiography she says almost nothing about Sinatra outside of I don't want to talk about him. He was a shit. So she is tarring someone's reputation without giving any sources. She should be writing for the National Enquirer.

Bacall was a heavy smoker for decades. This was the elephant in the room, as far as her health regimen goes. Bogart did not have a daughter from one of his earlier marriages. His only two children were with Bacall. From what Bacall said in her memoir, it was Slim Hawks, Howard's wife, who saw her on the cover of Harper's Bazaar and brought it to her husband's attention. Slim confirmed this in her own memoir, "Slim: Memories of a Rich and Imperfect Life." Bacall and Sinatra got involved in 1956, from what I've read, when Bogart first became sick. Bogart knew about it, but was too sick to do anything about it. Sinatra and Bacall were not involved in the early 1950's. I can only imagine what the time of Bogart's illness was like for her. He had been lover, best friend, father, and husband. The thought of losing all that had to be terrifying.
@idfy2599 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for clearing that up. I was going to but you took care of it nicely. I remember reading her book in the late 70's in one sitting. She never mentioned anything about Bogie's child from Mayo. I don't know why this is said in this video. Poor research. She also wed Robards , I think , because he resembled Humphrey. Clearly she DID have trouble getting over Bogart. One of the best quotes, I have always remembered she said was from Bogart; " Class isn't something you can acquire like a suntan. You are born with it". I believe I quoted that correctly. I loved that. I was very young then, but through the years, I have known this to be true. Thanks again.

She was later married to another well known actor Jason Robards and he was married at the time they began their affair.
