I want to offer a clarification. Around the 10 minute mark I did NOT mean to imply the acceptability of same sex romantic relationships if they are sexless or to imply that lust itself is not a sin issue. I only meant to say that kindness and compassion are positive things and should exist between people of the same sex. Sometimes people think that Christians are condemning the kindness and compassion that same sex relationships have. Instead we can celebrate it insomuch as it is the same kind of kindness and compassion that rightly exists within family members without any passion or lust involved. Sorry for the confusion! I only realized I had confused people when I saw the comments later.

When I was in college, I met a young man who become my theatrical partner in class . Who was an amazing artist and became a good friend . One day the Lord called me to seminary and I became deeply involved in ministry. Then one day he asked if I would lead/teach a bible study group at his house which most of his friends were gay (homosexual) one day the question came up .. oh,,, it was such a dreaded moment..so uncomfortable ! My gut sank .. I didn’t want to offend him and hurt his feelings. And so I said let’s look in light of scripture. Bible study ended . Friendship was not as close . We reconnected years later . However , he denounced Jesus as his Lord and savior. And he passed away from aids . I was so heart broken. I remember he used to tell me how miserable he was being homosexual. I can’t tell you how sad I am to this very day . For me, I set the fear of God before my eyes . And I don’t want to see anyone go to hell . So I pray and love enough to tell the truth . I’d rather have people hate me for telling the truth then to love me for a lie . Thank you Mike for talking about this .

Once lust becomes an issue between two people of the same sex (or opposite sex) then that's where it becomes sin. Anything based out of lust is sin. Lauren Diagle handled it almost perfectly. My only critique would be that if she knew and said she didn't. If you know it is a sin or don't I think telling people to look in scripture themselves is great. Once you get people to hear the word of God that is a win. You can point out that homosexuality is a footnote and the religion is all about God redeeming man. If they reject God why do they care if a fictitious God thinks it is a sin. If they believe in God then you have won them over and they can grow in the spirit. Going out and saying "yes, Homosexuality is a sin" isn't the best answer in my opinion especially if you know they are going to take it as a personal attack because they identify with the sin. Telling people to look themselves seems like a better option. 7:39 he touches on this. Half of the battle is saying what you mean, the other half of the battle is saying it in a way that clears up confusion. When Jesus answers questions he doesn't always answer questions directly but in a round about way that conveys a deeper meaning. If we hate Lauren for her response that wasn't anti biblical how does that make us Christians look. She said look in scripture and then gets chewed out by brothers and sisters in Christ. Which one of us is perfect? Her response wasn't the best nor perfect but she points people to God. If we brothers and sisters can't accept her as non perfect no wonder why non Christian's don't want to be in our religion. If we hate our own for their mistakes how much more do we hate outsiders for their mistakes. Instead we should show grace to one another because the unbeliever is watching us.

It is God's judgement that all who have sinned have fallen short - ALL. Our very natures, by virtue of just BEING BORN are inherently sinful. We have a need to be changed just as much as they. We are only to relay the message that God tells us. As we grow closer to him, our thoughts should fall more in line with His thoughts and our ways to His ways and our judgements to His judgements. Should we hit people with Bibles - not unless God says to. But honestly, time is far too short now to be nice. We are dangerously close to the cliff. The more danger we are in, the firmer the hand needs to be to get us out of danger.

I don't know Lauren Daigel or have heard her music but from her comments she seems to personify a big problem issue (for Western Christians) that is the fear of man and approval of the world and/or lack of understanding of the word. This seems to be the manifestation of cultural Christianity rather than receiving of the Holy Spirit. This is sadly a common problem here in the UK where churches actively court the approval of society and the majority of "believers" I come into contact with have little or no desire for biblical truth. @ProtoGlenn3 жыл бұрын
First off, why would people often ask you this? And where do you get off by just saying yes, or even adding the other 2 notions? Sin is the transgression of the law, according to the Bible, so I'm not sure how you attribute a non Biblical Puritan ideology as a "sin". Also, their ideology is "Marriage is only between 1 man and 1 woman, and all sex outside of that marriage is sexual immorality". They never actually called it "sin". But they did rewrite Bibles to call it "sexual immorality"(which is a term that was never in the Bible, as it doesn't have a set definition. The word the wrote it over is "whoredom/fornication", which specifically referred to prostitution, and was often in context of idolatry). Do you fact check your morality at all, do you do any research on the matter? Were do you source "homosexuality" being wrong? There is no law against it in the Bible, so it isn't a "sin". And there are accounts of homosexual relations in the Bible. Why do you use a Biblical term for a non-Biblical condemnation?

Stefan Grundlingh I have read that same sex attraction, acting out on it by having sexual relations in a sense changes our wiring on a biochemistry scale. What's problematic is the molestations and single parentness happening at young ages are sure contributiing factors. The sin I give into, becomes my propensity. Sexual sin is different as the bible says it is sinning against yourself. Romans 1 sheds some light on this. The biochemistry changes maybe some of the reason gay/lesbians say they feel "I was born this way", something in a sense they feel they can't change. The seratonin/dopamine neurotransmitters for feeling good can be I believe changed following the sin of sexual sin and pornography. It's of course more than this short answer, but one thing is certain love is the key and being patient.

I, Rich,s wife, appreciated your entire presentation on this topic, especially explaining what true godly love is. This has wide application to all issues of sin. We have been married for almost 59 years. A young person asked me, “How do you DO that?” On the spur of the moment (we were meeting on the street in passing), I answered one word, “JESUS!” I really meant that. As for Lauren, I am suspicious that her answer to read the scripture for themselves, that she didn’t know herself is more telling that she really doesn’t know. With all the homosexual friends she says she really loves, she might find out for herself what God’s word teaches on the subject. Also even though Jesus had little to say on the topic, what you DID say about Him on it was powerful; and likewise the Apostle Paul was appointed by him, so Paul was also speaking God’s word to us. Another thought on Lauren’s answer that popped into my mind was what the blind man’s parents said in John 9 when questioned by the Jewish authorities-about asking their son because he was old enough to answer for himself. They were afraid of being cast out of the synagogue.

Of course it was, her feelings don't match the word of the Christian god. She could have said that, "Homosexuality is a *sin,* and it is a sexual attraction/relationship not recognized by God through the ritual of marriage." If that is causing a schism in her mind, then she should find time to address that schism. This could move her further into the religion or move her away. Without that inner peace, she will have to make excuses. Christians trust God, but if you do not trust God, then maybe there is a reason for that. It could be a lack of knowledge, it could be a desire, it could be that you don't trust God. As an athiest, I remain unconvinced. I observe, then engage. I may be wasting my time, or saving myself, but the journey continues with each minute I spend wondering and questioning. Like an apologist, I want to know the truth; the reality. I want to refine my understanding of all things. I do t know if there is a word for someone who is not convinced of other things, but I would likely hold other titles if there were. At least, if I am wrong, I can say I stepped carefully to avoid any traps, and if I never found the truth, is was not through laziness or a lack of ambition.

Her place isn't as a teacher, it's as an artist. The way I see it her job is reach as many people as she can and point them to a teacher. If she gets cancelled or becomes polarizing she can't reach anyone. Therefore, I don't think it's a cop out, I think it's her best play to spread the word.

Mike, thank you for the sensitive and loving way that you address issues. My opinion on the matter of her answer is that she succumbed to the pressure of political correctness. She said to read the bible and when you find the answer let her know because she is learning too, so I think it is fair to say that she thinks the bible has the answer. Being a Christian to say she doesn't know is more than likely a lie. There is no disputing the fact that lying is a sin. So where is the logic in sinning to avoid calling that which the bible clearly calls sin, SIN. Her answer (as least to me) definitely shows what is more important to her and what she thinks in more dispensable. Cast away truth and hold to political correctness.

Lots of Christians use the excuse of ‘living under grace’ to imply that ‘it (a sinful relationship) doesn’t matter anymore’ to them or to God. Homosexuality is not the only sin that is important to God. To be societally observant and honest, homosexuals aren’t the only ones struggling with sexual sin. So, why do people elevate THIS sin as THE ‘true Christian’ test question? I see many Christians struggling with other sins, and those are also important to God. Addressing ALL sin is important in order to live in agreement with God. I have an adult child struggling with this sin. I asked my child pointedly why they chose to ‘define’ themself regarding only homosexual sin rather than by any other sin they struggle with. I told my child they were a beloved creation of God, and that according to God’s word all sins lead us to self destructive habits that lead us to places wherein satisfying the lusts of the flesh can become more important to us than actions that please God, and worse, it places us as an Adversary AGAINST God. Do we as Christians take all sin just as seriously as homosexuality? I realize people do struggle with some sin more than others, and that The Evil One has been quite successful in using the specific sin of homosexuality to try and separate people from family, a nurturing Christian community, and even The Church itself, using it to also further isolate people from God. As a mother, the most painful thing i have ever gone through is facing the feeling of having to choose between God and my child. I love my child more than myself, but I love God first, and I have to be loyal to God first and stand in agreement with God on the subject of sin, ALL sin. It was emotionally excruciating to have to tell my child I could not stand with them in this choice in how they approach sex, relationships, and possibly marriage. I must say I love my child fiercely. We agreed to disagree about this one subject, but I know my child, who says they love God, they love Christ, suffers a great deal struggling with this sin. I cannot imagine the internal torture and self hatred a Christian struggling with this sin is going through, but I have witnessed its effect on my child emotionally. My child is broken spiritually, and desperately needs all of your prayers, as do I. Though my child is an adult now and has chosen to live in another city, i feel the distance growing between us emotionally too-maybe also just part of being a mom and any child growing up, but especially with this between us. It has been very hard. I deeply feel and share the sadness of God, when His children pull away from Him and He knows they are suffering. I pray for miracles in all of the lives of those, especially Christians, who struggle with homosexuality, and for their parents, and i pray for reconciliation of all God’s children back to Him in Christ Jesus. All sin hurts, damages, destroys our bodies, minds, and spirits, as it separates us from God and living a close and personal relationship with Him. My experience of not being in agreement about sin with my child, has been a lesson in how it can also drive a wedge between us and God too. Sin is serious business. But only God can truly fathom how serious, because He can see ahead of us. How much more of a reason to trust God and be and live in agreement with Him about all sin. How I love my (adult) child! Imagine! He loves us all the more and perfectly and fully so! 🙏🏻❤️😢

"Why do Christians ALWAYS talk about homosexuality?" You're spot on. 99% of the time I see it discussed, it's because someone has asked that question, often in a judgemental way. If they didn't demand that we respond to certain topics, they would likely rarely ever get mentioned. It doesn't help that we have so many progressive Christians muddying the water by deciding what is and is not sin. Does God say it is? There ya go.

I feel sorry for her because she was unprepared for that question, however this is an answer any Christian “celebrity” needs to be able to have ready. I’m not a very sugar-coating type person, although empathetic. My initial response would’ve been to ask if they really want to know my “feelings” (which honestly don’t actually matter) or do they just want to know if I have the “right” answer? Then I’d whip out my Bible app and say my answer is not based on my feelings but the fact that I believe the Bible and what God says about sexuality and actively participating in sexual sin. It’s right there. Why can’t I pin this on God? He made the rules after all! 😂 Then I’d also use Scripture to explain what a sinful human I am and try to bring it around to the Gospel to let them know God’s loving grace and mercy. After all that, I’d also have no problem calling them out and saying I find it odd that this question doesn’t get asked to people in any other genre of music/entertainment, it’s almost as if to trap us Christians so they can say “Aha! I KNEW you hated us!!!”. 😱😒 😂

Great video! I believe you are being much to charitable when you say that people respond to your saying "homosexuality is a sin" with "misunderstanding" and try and characterize it as hateful homophobia. They don't misunderstand, by and large; in most cases they are opposed to the very notion of sin, if it conflicts with their ideas about sexual liberty. It all boils down to people seeking the God They Want, rather than seeking The God Who Is.

I've only listened to the first part of this video but I heard her side skirt the question, and I know it's important to be kind....but not at the expense of God's truth surly? We were warned that the world would hate us. We need to be able to give the truth in love, because we will be giving account to God over this If we do not. We are encouraging people to continue in their sin and loose their salvation...that's NOT loving or kind!

She was raised in a good Christian home and has turned to this life out of rebellion. She knows that it is wrong and we don't see her much at family functions. We love her and make sure she knows that. Her immediate family does see her more often and loves her. She knows they do not approve but she is still treated as family.

Even more than showing her love, is she talked to about the issue, is she prayed for. I fear when too much "love" is shown and not enough teaching and praying, the sinner will think everything they are doing is "ok"...

This video is old but I just had some thoughts within the first 20 minutes: I'm moved to show grace to Lauren's answer because Peter literally denied Christ. Not saying she answered correctly or incorrectly but that her faith shouldn't be defined by that moment (not that you are, Mike!) Second, I think while her wording could have been better, she was spot on in saying that it's up to God, not her. He asked if she FELT. Not if God said or if she believed the bible said, but if she felt. So for her to say that people should talk to God about it and read His thoughts seems wise to me. Lastly, I think sometimes we confuse our jobs as christians: it's not my job to call out my non-Christian friends on their sinful behavior. Why? Because they aren't Christians. They don't care what God says. I'm better of loving them and living my life in such a way that opens doors for relaxed and gracious conversation concerning spiritual things. However if a CHRISTIAN brother or sister is living in sin, then it's my job to speak to them in an appropriate, loving way to hopefully show them their sin through scripture. Anyway just my thoughts! Great video so far. Now I'm gonna keep watching. 😂

Easiest answer ever......" yes, because God, Jesus and the Bible says so.....I'm a Christian artist, so I read and study the bible". No, you can't convert sinners with a baseball bat....obviously. Everyone is touchy and feely, and they don't say that or don't say this, ect. Jesus spoke plainly. He was concerned with their souls, not if he emotionally scarred them for 4-6 hrs. Liberal "feel good" churches and liberal pastors skip over any controversy in the Bible. America is soaked with these churches. This is the sign of the end. The great falling away. This is that. God bless.
