I have been looking forward to Grenada for months now and we finally MADE IT! Between the autopilot issues and the upwind angle with high winds, it was a very uncomfortable sail, which made our arrival even sweeter.

Hi Kid just joined, hope the little money will help. I am a old salt that grew up on the Connecticut coast during World War II. Boy that should age me. I will be 86 in January 2024. Married for 38 years to my wonderful wife Sharon who is 82. My first boat was a 8 foot rowboat, later a 14 foot with a 2 1/2 HP out board. Worked in a Wood Boat Yard after school and on weekends when I was 14 , calkling, seam compounding and painting wood 40 footers. Had my first wood sail boat at 14 , a 40 foot wood two masted old boat. I brought for 400 Comics and $ 20.00. Will tell you more after in another letter. Best of fair winds. Don ( Trudie). Lallier

This Being Said, Four Dudes, On a $100k Sailboat, Pulling Into Grenada, Would Have No Issues. Last Couple Years, Grenada Has Allegedly Started Cleaning Up Their Crime, but Crime is a Mindset. The Guy Selling Marina Fuel Isn't a Priest. He's a Most Likely Minimum Wage Worker, With Rowdy Friends. If He's a Really Nice Guy, Then His Friends Control Him, and Want to Know When Certain Opportunities Come Pulling Into the Marina. Hi , wandered if Mako wants a feline pin up ? Leopard has marking like a tiger 🐅( yes I know she used to be the neighbours daughters cat , but moved in with us ,even though at first did keep returning her ! ) So ,obviously ,knows her own mind ,chooses which bed to sleep in . Likes to be treated with a variety of foods ,mainly fish but tinned tuna best 🐟. Hobbies include mouse'n 🐁, bird watching🦤 (including on tv ) Love's night life and has several friends including ,a hedge hog 🦔.2 foxes 🦊🦊also 3 other cats .🐈🐈🐈‍⬛ Dislikes dogs ,vets and bin men day .O also getting wet ! Seeks fun loving furry friend .😻

1st want to say I'm loving Your sharing of Your travels with Us all,,, But that being said > I have what may very well be a Sailing Dumby question that has been poking @ Me since I 1st saw Your Wonderful KittyCat romping around the boat very happily chasing a toy & now with the “wave over the boat” incident I am moved to ask > If, during an event where You ended up in the water due to jumping in to save Your Kitty or You just got knocked off balance & went overboard, while the boat was under control of the autopilot, do You have a means by which You can shut down the autopilot & have the boat turn back to You or would it just motor off into the sunset without You,,, So sorry if this causes You or anyone else any angst ~

Hi Lauren. About your dinghy tackle, the davits appear to be wider than the attachment points inside the hull. Perhaps there'd be less motion if the tackle hung straight down. When heeled over, does the angle cause one side to be looser and the other carry more weight? Just a suggestion. I enjoy watching your voyage. Best wishes from Chesapeake Bay.

Lauren why bother with a hydro vane, that is really old. You should get a more updated electronic auto pilot and have it installed by the manufacturer or agent. As for your StarLink are you going to get a marine version? FMC Global offer better options than what StarLink does.

Sorry for your frustrations. We all deal with them. Even at my age it’s still a thing. But I learned that we all have a problem with our “wanters” that part of us that when we want something like the auto pilot and everything to work well, and when it doesn’t we want it to work so much that it causes frustrations and unhappiness, anger even sometimes, but the trick is when your not getting what your wanting, work at not wanting it. Just maybe even enjoy sailing old school style like many still do. 😊

high winds and rough seas will shut down alot of autopilots. Unless of course you have a nice hydraulic system that can handle more wind and larger sea states
