Tigerfang I always thought that when Philip died it truly destroyed Alexander. It's quiet uptown becomes his mood for like the remainder of the musical and he doesn't even try to do anything else (Reynolds pamphlet ruined him but like when has anything ever stopped his will to try). But adding this makes it even sadder since Philip looked so similar to Laurens, it was like he was losing not only his son but also John a second time.
