The "rebel" part is so relatable. I always feel like I have an inner parent and an inner child, and the inner parent will try to impose rigid schedules on the child, and the child rebels every time.

I laughed so hard at the popcorn machine metaphor. That's exactly how my mind feels! Thank you so much for the work you do, for helping us make sense of the way we operate and how to thrive in our own particular way.

Me too! That was so spot on! Sometimes, I really want to pull the plug and plug it back in once I've finished something! 😀

I can write a schedule to timetable stuff and then it almost immediately gets abandoned. BTW one of THE best INFP videos I have seen - 3rd edit of this post :) - This video applies to any scheduling for anything reall and not just writing

I was raised to be very disciplined and responsible. My mom and sister require a lot of planning and control so that was what I was brought up in. It's taken me a few years to shift into letting myself go with the flow and it is more fun! I also grew up as a peacemaker in my home and now that I'm out I've discovered my stubborn rebellious advocate energy. 😂 it's easy for me to be outspoken in defense of other people.

That rebel archetype is spot on!! All your points Lauren are spot on. I was actually asking this same thing to another INFP in one of my videos why does he feel the need to have "consistency and discipline"? I think we do so much better when we have lose structure and can flow in our own pace and with our creativity and not against it.

loose structure is good; NO structure is bad for an INFP

Yep! Schedules are pretty but get discarded by day 3 when it starts feeling like a J.O.B.!

That "loose structure" solution kind of answers my recent question from another one of your videos. These are very helpful!

for me i like drawing, but yeah i can't execute the schedule and very frustrated about the fact that i can't do it. but if i set the goal is "just drawing something" and then the flow keeps going that day.

For structure: As an INFP writer I use a transparent jar and decide on a word count for each day. Each day I manage to write e.g. 1000 words, I put a golden marble in that jar. Such childlike and visually gorgeous stimuli work well for me. I also use it as a copywriter. E.g. If I need to write 10 blogposts for a client, I use two of those jars, put 10 marbles in the first and each time I finish an article I transfer it to the other jar, until the first one is empty and the second one contains all the marbles. And, of course, whenever I get sick of this way of motivating myself, I try something new. 😀 Thank you so much for this video, Lauren. We subscribed to your newsletter. So curious about Firefly Magic! It sounds like it's addressing exactly those struggles we've been having for ages. I used to write chapters in random order, depending on the inspiration I got. Now that I'm older, I manage to work more or less chronologically. I think that might have to do with the development of the tertiary and inferior cognitive functions...

Thank you. Another word for stubbornness is persistence, which is called stubbornness when people disapprove of it. 😏 PS Bought your course. It’s well worth the cost. I recommend that people do ALL the exercises (don’t skip any!). Oh, and listen to it several times, allowing various time intervals in between. The concepts presented are unusual compared to previous writing instruction/advice INFJs may have received. You’ll find yourself responding to it differently (and more beneficially) each time.

I bought the intuitive writing ✍ course too and love it. I felt so relieved that somebody was putting words to what I've been feeling for so long. I'm a new KZbinr and have been loving the INFP INFJ community here, connecting with like minded individuals. It's such a relief for me to know I don't have to fight against my strengths to make my own mark.

I feel the same. When I started creating content for KZbin most channels that speak of INFPs and INFJs speak mainly of personality traits. These are all so helpful but I'm so glad I could find someone addressing a problem I'm having, with a solution I want to implement, because it's not taking me away from my intuitive strengths.

Could anybody please share more info about that REBEL archetype? Who is the author and in which system? OMG, I wish I could know about thihgs in this video so much earlier in my life as an INFJ! Thank you!

Hey Johny! The rebel archetype details I'm talking about in this video come from Caroline Myss' book "Sacred Contracts." It is an AMAZING book (all her work is fantastic), but if you don't want to read the whole book you can find the gallery of archetypes here, which is pretty helpful: www.myss.com/free-resources/sacred-contracts-and-your-archetypes/appendix-a-gallery-of-archtypes/
