3:32 in response to this: Usually in the nba the first overall pick is a really special guy. There a few situations where first picks have busted buts it’s very rare that the very first pick in the draft completely busts. And of course injuries can ruin careers too, especially if they happen before a young guy really starts to take off. (Oden, Fultz, rose) except even still oden had good start to his career and was a decent role player after his injuries, fultz is back on a good path, and obviously rose is still a special player and was an roty and mvp before being injured. But in general most of the 1st overall picks in the last 15 years have went on to become star players except for like one genuine bust (Anthony Bennett)

In 2016 the Golden State Warriors set an NBA record for the best regular season win loss record with 73 wins, beating out Michael Jordan and the 1996 Chicago Bulls. Stephen Curry also won the NBA MVP that year. Golden State plowed through the playoffs and faced off against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoff Finals. Cleveland were the HEAVY underdogs in that series. Golden State went up 3-1 in the finals. No team in NBA Finals history had ever overcome a 3-1 lead up to that point. The Cavaliers had a comeback story of the ages to win 2 straight games and push the series to game 7. The game was closely contested and near the end LeBron was clutch and had “The Block” on Andre Iguodala. Kyrie then came down the other end and made a 3-pointer over Stephen Curry to win the championship. Cleveland hadn’t won a sports championship in 52 years, in any sport, not just basketball. One of the best stories in United State’s sports history.

As for the Cavs/Warriors; they played against each other in the NBA finals for 3 seasons in a row. In 2016, the Cavs became the first team to ever come back from a 3-1 deficit in the finals to then win the series 4-3. The playoffs are best of 7. In 2016 the Warriors set an NBA record for the most wins in the regular season with 73-9. As a resident of Cleveland, Ohio myself... the Cavs winning in 2016 was one of the most emotional times for a city to experience together that I will never forget. I was literally crying tears of joy along with my girlfriend and everyone else at the bar. We hated LeBron when he left for Miami, but when he was quickly forgiven when he returned home a few years later; especially after he helped win Cleveland an NBA championship. Kyrie Irving should be mentioned as well as he came up HUGE, hitting the game winning shot in game 7, as well as a 41pt game for both himself and LeBron in game 5. The game at the end was an Olympic game. Every once in awhile a president will attend.

Lebron left Cleveland after he had promised them a title because 1. He didn't have a solid team ( without him wouldn't even make the playoffs) 2. A teammate fucked his mum 3. Surely he got frustrated losing so much Then he went to Miami to learn to win championships but was taken down by the legendary Dirk. He won 2 championships after that loss and fell to an amazing San Antonio Spurs again and he left to go back home to Cleveland to fullfill his promise. He went back fell to golden State the first year then in his 2nd go against GSW he pulled off the most legendary championship run against arguably the top basketball team of all time. Then GSW hacked the NBA by putting together the greatest superteam of all time and he fell twice against them in 17 and 18. Then he left again to go to the lakers. His first year he had an injury and didn't make the playoffs and now we're here in 2020 watching what he is going to accomplish. This year is amazing I suggest you start following NBA full time cuz its going to be an interesting year as the Lakers, Clippers, Rockets and Bucks all have championship calibre teams.

For some more context... The NBA draft order is determined through a lottery in which the teams that didn’t make the playoffs get a certain chance of getting the number 1 pick. At the time of this draft the worst team according to record would have the best chance, the second worst would have the second best chance and so on. So basically Cleveland had to get lucky in order to win the lottery and draft their hometown superstar even though he isn’t technically from Cleveland but close by. Also this was before the 1 and done rule was implemented where kids could get drafted right out of high school still. Soon after a rule was put in place that forced kids to either attend a year of college or play overseas for a season before being drafted. The rule is still in place but is under a lot of scrutiny more recently because of players finding loopholes and also looking to make money right away which you cannot do in college. All that to say that Cleveland was lucky or were gifted that number one pick. The rest is history

Basketball players are definitely looking at the basket when they shoot. They may often jump or begin the process of shooting without looking but that’s because they know where they are on the floor. If you want a resume of his career, he was drafted in 2003 by the Cavaliers, reached his first NBA Finals in 2007, lost to the Spurs. After losing in the Conference Finals to the Celtics in 2010, he went to Miami, forming a superteam with Chris Bosh and Dywane Wade, but lost the 2011 Finals to the underdogs Dallas Mavericks of the lonely star Dirk Nowitzki(another amazing player btw), won 2012 over the Thunder, 2013 over the Spurs and lost 2014 to the Spurs. Returned to Cleveland in 2015, lost in the finals to the Warriors of Steph Curry, who was emerging at that time, but there's more to that loss, because Kevin Love was injured during the playoffs and Kyrie Irving was injured in the Finals, so he was alone then. In 2016 he faced the Warriors(which won 73 out of the 82 games of the regular season). Curry this time was injured but he was able to play in the Finals, and it was glorious, the Warriors got a 3-1 lead but Cleveland managed a comeback, the first from down 3-1 in NBA Finals history, with a game where both Kyrie and LeBron scored 40 points, first time in Finals history that two teammates got 40 points in one game, and a game 7 that was decided in the last moments by two plays, a block by LeBron on Iguodala, and a three by Kyrie over Curry. After that the Warriors got Kevin Durant, forming a superteam and defeated the Cavs in the Finals in the next two years, losing last year to the Toronto Raptors of Kawhi Leonard after both Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant suffered major injuries. After his loss to the Warriors in 2018, having carried his worst team to the finals since 2007 Cavaliers, LeBron decided to go to the LA Lakers, still pursuing the title of Greatest Player of All Time.

In case you did not know, his return in Cleveland, he lost the NBA finals his first year back. The Golden state warriors upset them that time. But next year, the Golden state warriors recorded the best nba regular season record for any team in history 73 wins 9 losses. Of course the odds were in the Warriors' favor. But Cleveland made it to the finals anyway and faced them. In a 7 game finals series, Golden state was up 3-1. They only need to win 1 more game to end the series but LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love fought hard to come back from that deficit and win the title. This is also the first time an nba team came back from a 3-1 deficit if i am not mistaken

Miami is the best point in his career, specifically the 2012-2013 season. His 2008-09 (first MVP) season in Cleveland was statistically great, especially his playoff run, but in Miami his game was more polished. his 2018 playoff run was also godlike though. EDIT: to answer your question about if LeBron and Curry have a rivalry...kinda. The season LeBron came back to Cleveland (2014-15) the Warriors broke out as a team and met the Cavs in the finals. LeBron's other two stars, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love were injured and despite the Cavs taking a 2-1 lead, the Warriors won the series 4-2 after winning 3 straight. In 2015-16, the Warriors got better and won 73 out of 82 games in the regular season, the best season ever. 2016 is when the Cavs were down 3-1 then came back to beat them. Then that off season Kevin Durant signed with the Warriors which kinda ruined the league for a bit as they were easily the best team (to put it in perspective, the team that just won 73 games added an MVP to their team) and beat the Cavs easily in the 2017 and 2018 finals.
@ericyin28104 жыл бұрын
Lebron is from akron ohio. Cleveland is his hometown team, which is why him going back (and him leaving) meant so much to the city. When he left it felt like the chosen one who got drafted by his hometown, abandoned them. When he came back it was like from a fairy tale. The chosen one learned how to win and came back to bring a championship to his hometown. The team he beat in the finals, the warriors, were a 73 win team (the winningest team of all time, more wins than jordans bulls). He beat them down 3-1, and became the first team in nba history to win a finals down 3-1, nonetheless against the winningest team of all time (many analysts at the time touted the warriors as the greatest team of all time, before their eventual defeat to lebron). Lebron coming back down 3-1 in the finals against the winningest team of all time, is the greatest accomplishment in nba history. To win for his home town of cleveland, and end the 50 year drought, absolutely mind boggling. In those finals, lebron averaged the most points, assist, rebounds, blocks, and steals, the first player ever to lead both teams in every single statistical category. Overall, while his career might not be as amazing as jordans, the story of lebron is one of the greatest in sports.

LeBron James is more known to be a complete player in the NBA. He does A LOT of things so well or at improves on things every season. It’s scary how he gets better even in age. Yes, he may not be as powerful or athletic as he was when he was 20 years old. But he’s smarter and picks his spots, if he needs to be the point guard or facilitator to get his team going. He’s more than happy to just pass the ball and find good shots for his team. If they need him to be a scorer, then he’ll do what he has to do to carry his team to a win. He can very well be an all-time scorer if he pushed himself to be one. But LeBron isn’t a scorer despite his how huge his career points are right now. LeBron, has always been a facilitator..a “POINT” forward..he’s the point guard..he likes passing the ball and likes to defer to his team mates especially when it comes to important moments. Which is why many nba fans and analyst said he doesn’t have the CLUTCH or killer instincts like Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant. LeBron will always look to pass for a better shot..for better words..he doesn’t do HERO BALL, he rather go for TEAM BALL. But like I said, if he is the only option..he will put in everything he’s got to win..and his earlier years in Cavs to his recent run in 2018 playoffs with the Cavs was basically..LeBron giving his all in every damn game despite not having the strongest team and even close to winning at least 1 or 2 games against the Warriors was A SIGHT TO SEE. LeBron’s 2018 playoff run was so IMPRESSIVE..I still don’t know how he was able to push that team to the finals, but he DID. Unfortunately, he couldn’t do it on his own against a super stacked Warriors team and lost. But still the Cavs was literally the underdogs throughout the playoffs, but they made it to the finals...CRAZY.

Steph and lebron have a rivalry per se because both of them prevented each other from being the most dominant in their decades. Both curry and lebron won 3 titles in the 2010s, and 1 of lebrons and all 3 of Curry’s rings were verses each other. So lebron would have 6 rings if curry didn’t exist, and curry would have 4. Their teams battled over and over for years in the finals. That’s what the rivalry is basically. The 2016 finals, what they were referring to for the lebron win for Cleveland, is widely regarded as the greatest finals of all time. The insanely dominant warriors, who had just had the best winning season of all time, going 73 and 9, beating the 72 and 10 record of Michael Jordan’s bulls, and who were the reigning champions, winning it in 2015 over a Cleveland Cavaliers team basically who only had Lebron since the 2nd and 3rd options in kyrie Irving and Kevin love were both injured, it was bound to be an incredible series, the most winning team of all time vs a cavaliers team hungry for revenge for the almost unfair loss of the previous year, the two titans battled for the first 4 games, but the warriors took a 3-1 lead in the first to 4 game series. Now in basketball, this is a death sentence, as usually by this point the morale is very low on the losing side, and there isn’t much fight left in your team. But something possessed lebron and the cavs, they fought back, somehow won the next two games and tied it 3-3. The final game, the final minutes, the warriors 6th man Andre iguodala goes for a layup and is rejected by lebron in his classic running block that was shown in this vid quite a bit, he is the best player at this kind of block by far. In the last seconds of the game, the cavs are down, but they have possession of the ball, it goes to kyrie Irving, who shoots a buzzer beater 3, makes it, and wins the game. The cavs defeated the most winning team in nba history, and as well became the first team to ever come back from a 3-1 deficit and win. It was Cleveland’s first and only title, and it was the one lebron had been promising them since the moment he joined the team. He is indeed from Cleveland, and an interesting fact, so is steph curry. It was truly a magical series, one that I recommend anyone watch if they are interested. Peace ✌️

In almost all cases the hype of how good a player is or their potential could be creates a majority of number 1 picks an unnatanable level of play. Lebron is rare in that he did live up to it. Its important to know that when he was 15-16 years old and a sophomore in high school he was already the obvious best high school basketball player in the us. And it wasn't even close.

Glad for Lebron James to get his own recognition, without Michael Jordan's name being throw in the mix. He isn't on the same level as a Michael Jordan. Now comparisons will be drawn, just not woth the greatest of all times Michael Jordan. He don't have the arsenal on offense, and defense. Theirs clearly a major difference between the two styles of play. He uses the same dunk in all his highlights, they show the same shot blocking at the rim, that's it and no more. The comparisons shouldn't have never been made Lebron and Michael. This video shows their games way different.

React to Russell Westbrook’s MVP season or his most vicious dunks.
@79Glitch4 жыл бұрын
AKA the most counterfeit MVP season of all time, or the greatest conscious padding of stats and ball dominance the league has ever seen: 45% ball control and literally boxing out teammates to get rebounds and taking the ball away from teammates on free throw rebounds? The question is, is there a single player in the NBA not named Kyrie Irving who could have the ball in their hands for half the time their team possesses the ball and NOT get 10 assists per game as a natural by-product of the ball either leaving your hands for a shot (a low percentage, low efficient one in the case of Westbrook) or a pass? If he played decent defense, he would be somewhat defendable, but he doesn’t even do that. So what does he do good? Highlight dunks, I guess.

michael mata He was overwhelmingly chosen by the PLAYERS and the FANS and the MEDIA for MVP that season. He averaged 32-10-10 as the league scoring leader, while having one of the most statistically clutch seasons ever, had several 50 point triple doubles, led the league in 4th quarter scoring (more than Isaiah Thomas who was dubbed “king of the fourth” that year), he led many 4th quarter comebacks that season, his teammates also statistically improved when Westbrook was on the floor. It Westbrook passed his team mate the ball, their shooting % increased about 3% on average, as opposed to Harden, who’s team mates shooting % dropped 2-3% in the same circumstance. Harden being the only other real candidate that season (and deservedly so). MOST importantly his season was VERY entertaining to watch, Westbrook’s supreme athleticism was on full display, which was the point of me mentioning it.

Alderak1 And they lost in 5 games in the first round. Westbrook also shot 42% on 24 attempts a game and controlled the ball for a historic amount of time to the detriment of his team and winning basketball philosophy in any era. I never thought I’d see a player as selfish and ball dominant as Kobe Bryant when he was at his worst, yet Westbrook managed to do it. Meanwhile, Kawhi averaged 26 or 27 points a game in less time, on 48% shooting, with less turnovers and ball stopping, offense killing bad decisions, was third in Defensive Player of The Year voting (voters always favor big men because of blocks, but Kawhi has won before) helped the Spurs win 61 games without Tim Duncan, and lost only to Golden State in the Western Conf. Finals-in other words, he added more value to his team, and helped his team have more success. In my lifetime, there has never been an MVP for a crappy or middling team, to the best of my knowlege because basketball IS a sport where one player can make a difference. OKC was a six seed and almost got swept, and thanks to Westbrook, they played an ugly, individualistic brand of basketball and achieved middling success in then regular season, and no success in the post season. Kawhi and Lebron have good stats AND they are not empty, padding type of stats for show-they actually contribute to their teams success to the point that, if you took them off the team, their teams would not even be playoff teams, most likely. You could argue that Westbrook actually hurts teams the way he plays. OKC is playing well this year, and the Rockets are playing worse with Westbrook. Their was a good article in the second to last season on OKC with Durant (it maybe the year before that) where the plus/minus literally had OKC scoring less points with Westbrook on the floor than their backup point guard (maybe Reggie Jackson) and giving up more points on defense with Westbrook on the floor vs the bench player. In other words, the writer was simply pointing out that, statistically, OKC is a better team in both ends of the floor when Westbrook is NOT playing, but that there was no way OKC could do that because of Westbrook’s salary and star status and fan drawing status. That doesn’t sound like an MVP to me, although like I said, this stat was prior to his MVP season. I don’t know if that was true of 2016-2017 because there was no Durant, obviously, but I will always think of that when I think of Westbrook. What I am confident in saying is that he seems to NOT make his teammates better, and does not seem to be a difference maker in his teams success-that is just the evidence we have at this point. I would theorize that that has to do with his ball dominance, which is the opposite of my basketball philosophy and many other basketball experts who believe in ball movement, constant motion and passing, and limited amount of ball stopping one on one isolation and dribbling, which is literally what players like Russell Westbrook and Kyrie Irving do, and Jame Harden to be fair. The difference is, Harden is such an efficient scorer that he can help his team be successful in the regular season. And that same season, Harden was a more efficient scorer and only average something like a 2 points less than Westbrook (but higher shooting percentage and more efficient) and 1 and half less rebounds-something like 29-8-11-and the Rockets spanked OKC in the first round before getting beat by Kawhi and the Spurs. Therefore, I believe the MVP voting if it were legitimate would have Kawhi, Lebron, and Harden ahead of Westbrook, and only because Durant and Curry sort of cancelled each other out. But clearly, all those others players can immediately turn any team into a legitimate contender. The same can’t be said of Weatbrook. He manipulated his stats and created the overblown triple double storyline, however, along with the “Durant left so we’re holding it down” narrative, to fuel a bogus mvp vote that all of the most respected NBA analysts have since pointed out was a bogus MVP (Jalen Rose, Bill Simmons, Brian Windhorst, Zack Lowe, etc). For me, I hate the players like Westbrook, Harden, and Irving play and I don’t think you can win playing that way; and so far, I’ve been proven right. Now the Rockets literally have two of those players, so it will be interesting to see what happens. So far, not so good. The Celtics are better without Irving, and Brooklyn is worse, so far. So statistics and the eye test seem to match-up, in my opinion.

LeBron is, probably, the second greatest. He never had help in Cleveland the first time around, and even in his second go-around with the Cavs, he faced a loaded Warriors team himself due to injuries to his two other star teammates, then game back the second time to win it, and then the Warriors assembled the greatest team with KD. The big blemish I would put on LeBron is the Mavericks series where he had the team and failed. Whereas other greats like Jordan had Pippen, it wasn't until Miami, and now in LA, that LeBron truly has a HOF sidekick. Honestly, the story runs very deep with many different factors. Also, don't listen to much to Skip Bayless, the voice you often hear. He made his career on hating LeBron.
