@@PP-py because he was doing what's called an impact statement and it's when you go to court to speak on behalf of who you lost and how it's impacted your life. He lost his son, that's why he spoke about him. The woman's son spoke about her. He was more impacted by his son's death than hers, no matter how tragic her death was as well, so that's why he only spoke about him. The point is to show the court how much you've been impacted by the defendant's actions, if he didn't know the woman, it wouldn't have made sense to speak about her. I had to read an impact statement in court before for my cousin who was killed so that's how I know.

The sound of the son’s brokenness hurt my core. Even watching the defendant hurt, bc he deserved it. that man did not blink once and it was so obvious his life was flashing right before his eyes. 37:39 killers never show emotion when convicted. What are they supposed to do? They knew what the jury would say. It’s resignation. Doomed to consequences.

Yes it gets on my nerves to be honest when people say they showed no emotion as I am pretty sure they are prepped not to show any emotion in court, although some do at the verdict. That piece of s*** was probably just resigned though you are right.

@ besides, the emotional response would give satisfaction to their enemies. It’s not like it’s changing the sentence.

So instead of arresting then when they left the apt knowing they were prob fleeing n not coming back they allowed a dangerous man they suspected of murder to take a women away to be murdered as well if I was her family I would be sueing bc let’s not forget they had arrest warrants before they left the apt

About to make the same point, they really glossed over that portion of the case, a suspected murderer and with an outstanding arrest warrant. I wonder if any of the ladies family raised that it in the victim impact portion of the trial?

Always looking for someone to sue. 🙄 They've been in and out, so there was no reason to "know" they weren't coming back that time. Plus, they still didn't know the extent of her involvement and still looking for more evidence. And to be frank, there was only one person who probably could've prevented Heather's death, and that was Heather. Was she being threatened, coerced, forced? Most likely yes...but she had plenty of opportunities to go to the police herself, but decided to medicate with alcohol. The audacity to try and file suit when you're family member participated in covering up a murder and that in return got themself into deeper trouble is crazy. Was her story tragic too? Yes. Did she deserve to die? No. But no one has any right to blame anyone other than Kevin.

A horrifying story - one that shouldn't be repeated. Justice was served. What Erks me is the notion from the defense lawyers that the killer was someone other than the defendant. I hate lawyers who know their client is guilty but fight for their innocence - it happens all the time but it's not morally right.

i really don't get anyone wanting to be a criminal defense lawyer, especially when it comes to crimes like this. the fact that those lawyers, all women, stood beside a man that viciously beat another woman, then jealously killed her after ending her new love interest, could not only keep defending him, but also try to twist it onto the woman victim and some other random guy is absolutely disgusting. i hope they get paid very well to have given up their souls so freely.
