Why so? He hasn't committed an "insurrection", so there would be nothing at all "ironic" about using a duly-passed law to secure the border and deport those here illegally.

Using the military directly for the purpose of apprehending and detaining illegal immigrants would be, in my opinion, unconstitutional. However, using the military to replace BCS agents performing, say, logistical or surveillance duties so that the agents could apprehend and detain illegal immigrants would not be.
