Lawn-Boy Gold Series 10515 Over-View and Demonstration

This is my 1994 lawn boy model one 10515 lawnmower. This mowers engine has been completely rebuilt but unfortunately the bottom crankshaft seal is already leaking due to factors that I cannot control such as old parts and part quality. I hope that you guys can understand why I’m selling this mower. At some point A mower becomes too old to become worth fixing anymore especially with the rising prices of new mowers and the banning of outdoor equipment starting to happen in some states. Without a doubt- this bagging system is the absolute best rear bagger ever outfitted on a mower. It feeds from the top, so it fills upward and it actually fills the entire bag- not just the bottom half. Also it rarely , if ever clogs. Only when I’m forced to cut wet grass. I say keep it if you can. The seals are so easy to replace!

You are definitely correct; these are by far the best rear bagging mowers you could have bought... the never clog!

This design is the best ever because it was borrowed from Snapper whom designed their top loading chute in the '60s...

I agree, I have one. But I opted to switch to mulching mode; less work and fertilizes the lawn.

I have cranks seals and I vacuumed sealed them which hopefully will help them preserve longer. Great video and it is sad to see it’s leaving!

Yea… I will be sad to see it go, but I mow lawns and over the summer I get really busy and won’t have time to do a full rebuild of it would come to that. That’s a great Idea to vacuum seal them! I’m 90% sure my seals were already staring to become dry rotted because how long they were sitting on the shelf it lawnboy.com.

You really ought to put this mower in storage until things calm down next Winter. I own a 10518 along with 10324c and I got rid of an almost new top of the line Husqvarna as those 2 were far superior in all aspects, especially that somewhat low-powered but ever so smoth 10518. By all means, please hang on to such a great piece of americana. Stay safe and be merry !

I might have to consider that. The problem I’m having is getting seals that aren’t old and dry rotted when I get them. But that is a greet ida to hang on to it until I have time to work on it.

I have a 10515 leaking on driveshaft blade is on. Can I replace the seal or bearing , I have a hard time getting rid of any Lawnboy mower . I love them and have used them since I was 12 yrs old. Even had a Lawnboy Gold Snowblower wow im old . any help would be appreciated . even info or sources for oem parts . Glad to see im not the only one that appreciates a quality reliable machines by LawnBoy. Cant find a used 10515 anywhere here in Canada North of Toronto

I have a 1990s 10515. Love it. All 4 wheels were wobbly. The wheel bushings get worn out causing wobble. Wheel wobble is unacceptable on rear wheels because it will ruin the self propel gears. Partstree does not sell new bushings. I bought some steel spacers at Lowes and hacksawed to correct length. Problem solved. I bought spacers 1/2" ID x 5/8" OD x 1.5" long and cut to length, about 5/8". Used a file to file down rough edge after cut. They fit perfectly inside the wheels and eliminated wobble.

@@lawnboyR Keep those spacers in mind if you ever need new wheel bushings! Lowes and Home Depot sell them.

I’ve never really seen anyone use headphones with those mowers. Even at full throttle my lawnboys never hurt my ears with the decibel level

It’s not that they hurt my ears, it’s for prolonged use. Hearing a noise over a certain decibel level for a long period of time will cause hearing loss, the same way as hearing a loud noise over a short amount of time.

Apparently, rubber is supposed to revive itself at 100 degrees in high humidity. Not sure if it's true, but it's worth a shot!
