Lawn Mower Powered Street Bike Gets 3X Power | Getting Road Trip Ready!

We're building a lawn mower engine powered street bike, using a Predator 212cc 6.5 horsepower engine and a 2003 Honda 919 CB900F. We're going to make the motorcycle street legal again, and road trip it to a bike show! Unfortunately, the Predator 212 only brings the bike to a top speed of 28 miles an hour, which isn't going to work on a road trip. In today's episode, we swap the low powered Predator 212 out for a Tillotson 225 racing engine. Still a Honda Clone, but with WAY more power (almost 18 horsepower)! This way, the bike will have the power to cruise at 45-50 mph.
Thanks for Watching!

I think losing the gearbox hurts the performance pretty bad. being able to have 5 or 6 ratios to utilize is a huge benefit, especially if you want to take it on road. Being able to cruise at a safe 50 mph while turning 3000 rpm or less would be ideal. If cost was and expertise was not standing in the way, I'd transplant a 400 4 stroke dirt bike + trans on it, but I get the need to use sponsor's motors, both from a cost perspective as well as a revenue perspective. I'd love to see massaged predator 670 under there, or a basic 3 or 4 speed clutchless manual adapted to mate to Tillotson motors.

Next challenge: Link a 212's crank to the crank of a dead bike engine stripped headless with no connecting rod. So you can use the bikes clutch and gearbox. Like mount that 212 on the headless case by the old head studs. That make sense to use a case with an internal gearbox? Even a dead Lifan's box maybe... See how much you can hack off and still use the gears. Rainy day idea, lol. Great build series guys!

@@DarkLinkAD no provng needed they are hard to keep at cruising speeds because how they work without a computer that controls how much they open or close they will constantly be having to adjust throttle using a butt load of gas which they want to be fuel efficient and the constant adjustment of the TC will make them use multiple belts jus to get to there destination because there not meant for that load and that duration of a trip this is why there not common in cars and the ones that do use them use a wet push design that's hydraulic driven. simply put this isnt something that's remotely worth "proving" nothing much about it will be educational any more so then there past videos where they tried it before

Well all I can say you wouldn't expect that with a engine swap it would do that. Keep up the great work.

Of course two engines will fit. The grinder and welder say they will. Jokes aside, do you remember the 2 speed mini bike at the Go Powersports warehouse? On of those setups may be in order for the highway speeds.

You try spraying down your new seat over in camp dry/repel or any hydrophobic fabric spray. It make it the cover won't soak with water.

a turbo predator 420 off the drift trike would also be a "lawnmower based engine" that would be sick!

I would love to see some sort of "homemade shifting system" with two gears. Even if it sounds hard (and maybe a lil stupid), it may not be that impossible. I just sold an old two speed automatic moped and it had a system with two centrifugal clutches, could barely call it a "gearbox". But it was basically just two different gearing ratios but one clutch engaged later than the other one or was attached to the first clutches shaft. Maybe you could somehow have 2 sets of chain and sprockets and just engage one a little later? 🤔 It is probably dumb, hard, and bulky but it certainly gets my mind going. Great video anyway! Love the motorcycle stuff! 👍

I love it when folks reuse old bikes with small utility type engines .Y’all have old street bike engines just layin around hack off a transmission pack it with grease or cobble an oiling system if pressured and cruise at eighty if you want to !

the 620 from the drag rail would be awesome in that bike. but, without going bigger, figuring out a way to put a torque converter on it would probably help a lot.

3d motorsports just came back with their 3d manual centrifugal clutch. It's a bit pricy, but I saw what it can do in person. About to get one myself to keep on the shelf for a future project.

Just for fun, you could fit a second engine on top of the first engine if you cut up thr fuel tank. Then you could have one engine geared low and the other geared high and make a shifter. One engine for torque and one for speed!
