Lawn Mower tune up - Kohler Engine

Pre-filling filters is almost a thing of the past these days. Most vehicles and equipment have them mounted either sideways like yours was or even upside down. The ones on the top of the motor don't even have anti-drain back valves. Once they sit for around 30 minutes all the oil in the filter drains down back into the motor. If it had and anti-drain back valve changing the filter would make a real mess every time.That means every time you do a cold start there is no oil circulating until the filter refills. If you have recently ran the motor you will still have an oil film on the rotating surfaces anyway.
