The turbo actually quiets it down some. I was running 4" single open and I had to put a muffler on it. I didn't want to hinder flow so I got a couple bell reducers from 4" to 5" and I'm currently running a 5" ID x 9" long resonator for a semi. I cab fit my arm through the damn thing. It's straight 5". So anyway, I expanded it to 5", then ran the straight through muffler and went back to 4". It still sounds mean as hell but it's a lot more tame. I can actually hear my centrifugal supercharger spool and whistle a lot better now. Before, the exhaust was pretty damn loud out of that single pipe. I'd feel pretty bad passing people on the interstate because it was blasting their driver door. I'm using Vibrant 4" 2 bolt exhaust flanges to make the system easily serviceable.
@tjbarnhart69713 жыл бұрын
I think it sounded pretty dang good as it was with the magna flow but I do agree it could be a little bit louder. Once you put the straight pipe on I thought it sounded terrible and There’s noway LT can live with that. I was glad to hear that you agree. I agree with the others, if you added a bullet style muffler or a small resonator with the side exit it will be about right.

Id try something knew, its very close. Id put a small 6-8 inch long resonator on it as the 'muffler' and then id put in a J pipe or Drone tube with a simular mufflerbut smaller diameterlike 2.5 inch piping. Itll take the edge off the obnoxiousness and the J pipe will help a lot with the drone. You can add the resonator and j pipe to what you just made too. Easy peasy

The extra length of pipe to the rear bumper, plus the arch over the axle will change the harmonics a bunch. Might be able to take the magniflow out, get that right tone, straight / bent pipe. Or add a T to a 90 at the magniflow location, run 3" pipe back foward. Put a slide in it, like a trombone.. slide and adjust the length of the resonance chamber until you get the tone you want. Once there. Clamp or weld. Sound is about frequency, changing the pipe length will affect resonance, drone, overall note.

Why not just put an electric cutout on it, so you can go open side pipe when you want or run through that Magnaflow like before, the Hushpower or maybe try gutting the Hushpower out and see if it sounds better with less or none of the baffling in it...just an idea. If ground clearance is an issue splitting the 4" into dual 2.75-3" pipes or flattening the last few feet if the 4" into an oval shape could work. I really like when a side pipe comes out at a shallow angle then is cut parallel to the body line roughly 0.5-1.5" from the edge of the body. That really makes the slash cut look large and menacing.
