Something to think about is a Blazer gas tank swap. It’ll help shift the weight more behind the axle. These trucks are light in the rear end and moving some weight further back will help.

@@dalehall2993oh I know. The extra weight behind the axle will still help it bite.
@cobaltlukather90454 ай бұрын
weight behind the axle helps in a straight line, but in corners, it acts like a pendelum, or a wrench, giving that weight extra torque to push that rear end out. the "continental" spare tire kits from the 1950s fell out of favor because this effect was noted to have caused road accidents in adverse, low-grip conditions. you want to centralize the mass as close to the center of the vehicle as possible, even if the balance is not perfect, your handling at the limit of grip will be best because your weight will be on the wheels, not beyond them.
@chriswise12324 ай бұрын
@cobaltlukather9045 Gas will slosh no matter where he puts the tank. Racers have been adding balast for decades. Firmly mounted weight effects cog and bias, but by itself, it doesn't create unpredictable handling.

I’m pretty interested in this build. I think it would be cool to do a 4.3 V6 with forced induction (though the original wasn’t the 4.3) unless you’re looking for more reliable power from a SBC or a LS style V8. I’m going to be doing a V8 swapped S-10 Blazer (maybe with Forced induction) but adding 1 tons. AWD is cool, but they’re not my cup of tea and they’re pretty much everything under the sun and the manufacturers aren’t building them like they did in the 70’s & 80’s.
@prevost86864 ай бұрын
For whatever reasons the 4.3 never got a lot of support from the aftermarket performance companies. There’s a few things for them out there but apparently companies thought that there wasn’t enough demand to justify the cost of offering products for them.

If OEM vehicles manufacturers paid as much attention to detail as you do there be a lot less need for mechanics. Also with your attention to detail I don't know why you're not using a weld through primer or a product like STEEL-IT®? I'm far from a professional welder but my best friend is a boilermaker. He has always told me a welders friend is 1. A clean SS brush dipped in deionized alcohol. 2. A Weld through primer or coating 3. Splatter guard spray
