Fun trivia... the fight between Obi Wan and Maul at the end, they practiced so intensely that they knew the moves like the backs of their hands. When they did the take, they were trying to out-speed each other and ended up moving so quickly that the cameras couldn't keep up with the frame rate.

Jake Lloyd's story is a tragedy. It's incredibly sad. To this day, he struggles with paranoid schizophrenia which was made worse in 2018 when his sister died unexpectedly in her sleep. He has had legal troubles as well, mostly due to erratic behavior when he hadn't been taking his medication to treat his mental illness.

I know I'm in the minority but episode one is my favorite. I know the prequels get a lot of hate but it's the Star Wars I grew up with. I saw all of them in the theater starting with episode one when I was 7. I also got the special edition N64 with the pod racing game. Also did Toy get her face tattoo covered/removed? Personally, I don't mind Jar Jar. I don't see what all the hate is for. Yes, he's kinda annoying. I think the problem for many is that there's no real reason for him to be there. He plays no role is the story and appears to be around just for comedic effect. By the way, Michael Jackson, reportedly lobbied Lucas to play Jar Jar, but he wanted to do it in makeup and prosthetics, and Lucas wanted to use cgi.

Here's an interesting little tit bit. For many years there's a theory been going around that, originally, jar jar binks was going to be the phantom menace. The puppet master behind the scenes, pulling the strings and making things happen, while using the dark side so the jedi couldn't sence him, and hiding in plain sight by being a bumbling fool, because who would suspect that a clumsy bumbling fool was really the dark lord of the sith. It was going to be a shock reveal that nobody would have suspected. Then the movie came out, and the Internet was just beginning to take off at the time, and people hated jar jar binks, and we're annoyed with George Lucas for putting in such an idiotic character. He got scared that he was going to lose money and he ended up completely changing up the plot of the movies. The first movie was already out so he couldn't do much about that. He left jar jar as a clumsy bumbling fool and used him as little as possible in the next movie and barely at all in the last one. Whether it's true or not, we will never know, but that's an interesting theory that puts a whole new twist on the star wars story, what might have been.

All righty. First, I gotta address the elephant in the room. Jake Lloyd - the kid who played young Anakin - had been in trouble with the law in recent years. He was institutionalized for a while, but he's doing all right now, and is still supporting the franchise he was a part of, which is always great to hear. With that out of the way, let's bring up the changes. First of all, the entire podracing sequence was originally shorter when this film first came out. No, seriously, the racer roll call and the second lap were shorter. What you saw was some restored scenes added in the DVD release in '04. Jabba in Episode IV was graphically tweaked for said release of that film to resemble his look in this one. And finally, of course, Master Yoda. Originally, he was a puppet (save for two wide shots that required CGI), but for the Blu-ray release, they made him entirely CG for all the other scenes he was in. And that's pretty much it. The Prequels weren't altered too much, as I'll explain.

💜💜 Spoiler for you, Ladies : Jar Jar was supposed to have a hugely important role in this trilogy, that's why this first movie is called : The Phantom Menace! But audiences ( people ) hated him so much in this movie that George Lucas rewrote the next two sequels in this trilogy and Jar Jar was relegated to an uninteresting supporting role. I personally think it was a mistake! Because sometimes the most dangerous creature wears a mask and looks ordinary, uninteresting! It would be amazing to see Jar Jar throw off his clown mask and show his the real dark face (according to the original script). But that didn't happen anymore!
