And yes if a child is very uncomfortable with his given name (say it is connected to a family member who assaulted them, or one that is connected to something embarrassing) being set on using that name that is troublesome for the child can be bullying. I mean what if I say "well what if the kid changed his gender 37 times a day and the teacher didn't gender him in order to avoid misgendering him is that really a problem?!" What we know is the kid was called by their name. A name by definition exists as a word by which to call you. We don't know and it in fact seems evident the kid was not misgendered. They were only not gendered. Nothing about that is an issue. A kid doesn't get to cry they were called by their name. That's not a real complaint. "That employee called me boss!" Well aren't you his boss? "Yeah but I wanted him to call me Mr. Boss!" This is childish even for a child

It was his other discouraging and demeaning comments, his refusal to use the chosen pronouns and singling them out. "We don't know and it in fact seems evident the kid was not misgendered. Just using the name is a "compromise" he gives but he also admits that he did more than that and that in retrospect is was "questionable". Please watch the video if you still don't get it I will try to explain after. I did not claim that he did that, as I made clear in the first sentence of my comment.

Christianity is about showing respect. It really isn't that hard. If someone doesn't like their legal name and wants to go by a nickname, do it. If you cant see how using diminutives or nicknames by a person in power is wrong then maybe you need a management course. Anyone in any position of power should never use a nickname or a diminutive it causes jealousy and can really backfire on that person. Imagine if you were dismissed or as a student sanctioned? If that went up the ladder that teacher/supervisor would at the very least be on very sticky ground and if I were his/her boss they would be looking for another job. The only time in my whole life I was ever called anything other than my name was when I was in the Navy and the only time I was referred to by a nickname was also in the Navy but it was a honorific nickname for a specific departmental rank.

With the contention around pronouns to one side for a moment, this is also a man who has publicly advocated for the execution of specific groups of people on several occasions. No doubt the right-wing will claim this ruling is an example of some kind of "cancel culture" persecution. Let us see a Muslim teacher stand in front of his students and tell them that certain groups of people deserve to be executed and then let's see how supportive they are of religious freedom of speech. You are free to believe whatever you want, you don't have the right to use your beliefs to attempt to brainwash impressionable students who are there to be taught maths by you. This is a clear example of why religion, particularly extreme religion views such as this, should be kept out of mainstream education, and individuals like this man should realise that you aren't exempt from the rules of your workplace because you have an imaginary friend in the sky..

well assuming he just agreed to call him by his name. That's a perfectly reasonable compromise. Saying you must use gender pronouns AND these are the ones you must use goes beyond respect. It's demanding you advocate a particular viewpoint because this isn't cirriculum. It's nothing to do with school. If you wanted him to teach as part of a psych course gender dysphoria fair enough. But saying this child BELIEVES something about themselves and your job is to reinforce that belief. Well it's not, it's to teach. If you identify as a great football player that's great. (Of course, the first question is why this would even come up.) As hard as it is, teachers must not turn their desks into pulpits. Forcing one view onto a class is not education: it's training. Personal example: I support the existence of Israel. I have a 6'x3' Israeli flag hanging on my wall - but I would never have hung it in the classroom. Why? Because I was there to teach Shakespeare, not Zionism.
