LBZ Duramax Full EGR Delete! With New Cross over Pipe

This weekend i installed the delete kit in my 2007 LBZ Duramax, 2500 HD gmc. The block off plates i got sent were not the right fitment so i had to buy a crossover pipe. I also picked up a 3" hot side oversize pipe from the turbo to cooler.
Ill eventually have to change the up pipe to an LB7 style as the block off plate isn't perfectly machined.
In other words dont buy junk off Amazon when it comes to parts. Buy from a good company lol.

Don't waste your money on an intake unless you are going for some serious HP. Stock HD intake on the LBZ is dyno proven to flow to 550HP and has far superior filtration to ANY after market intake system.

How was it in the winter after the EGR delete? I've heard from buddies they don't warm up for shit or maintain operating temp

I've had really good luck over last winter, high idle for 15mins and windows are thawed/ warm cab! and temps run a hair cooler but nothing a winter front shouldn't fix.

I don't think you change pipe on your cold side work's too good. Because it will blow the o rigins out of the y bridge

Yea man I blew them out the first day after getting it tunned, I just strapped the mouthpiece onto the y bridge and its held up so far!

I did the same, but replaced the egr cooler and valve with new ones. But now i have a loud whine noise under any acceleration. Any tips? Completely stock, this started after I replaced the egr cooler and valve. Im thinking one of the metal gaskets needs replaced? Any suggestions?

As a matter of fact I did! Since the brackets didnt line up great, the new crossover pipe I installed was moving then eventually pulled the mouth peice out of the Y bridge. I called the diesel shop and they got me new orings and a strap that wraps around the mouth piece and bolts to the Y bridge. (Holding said mouth peice in)

@@codyyellott117 my trucks stock. It has 215k and the EGR has never been cleaned and it wasn't all that bad. The problem is people tune and don't delete till later and then bitch about the EGR and Y bridge build up. I did a PCV reroute and cleaned it and put it back. I'll be good for another 100k and I'll clean it again.The key is maintaining the system and problems will be limited. I don't live in a emissions state, but all these guys who's deleted is about to get fucked hard by the EPA soon.

It really confuses me when people go after clean LBZ trucks then proceed to 'upgrade' the most reliable duramax engine. GM engineers vs. Kit sellers. Hmmm. Leave it stock. EGR disable via the ECM, lift pump, under battery 2nd fuel filter. It will go for 500k miles. I recently picked up a bone stock LBZ grandpa truck, runs like a dream,. During my search the only trucks I saw that had over 300k miles were bone stock with all original components. I can't emphasize this enough - leave it alone. Fuel delivery and filtration is the most important thing. EGR delete is for tuners and racing, EGR disable is for everyday drivers looking for reliability.

I agree with most of that... except the EGR is for racing and tuners. This isnt my daily, I like to have some fun burning around. Ever been to Alberta? Hard to find a stock diesel engine, we like to party out here. Plus... I know what the results are of deleting the EGR (barely any issues caused from the delete) but anyways what do I know I'm just a guy from the internet :)

A H that’s not true at all egr are just some bullshit the government makes gm put on for emissions. deleting it will make your motor last way longer and get way better fuel economy and more power no downsides

Just deleted my lbz and haven't tuned it yet. So I do have a CEL, BUT just simply deleting it and adding the high flow intake tube to the y bridge and Removing and completely cleaning the gunk build up in the y bridge i gained 3mpg in town driving hand calculated. 3! Without reprogramming it! That's nuts! If u truely want reliability delete the egr and re route the pcv system

If you just disable egr via the ecm the valve is just closed and it will clog up with soot. Destroying the egr system if you ever want to go back to stock. Also all the soot buildup in the egr could also potentially be a fire hazard (potentially, not likely) as the exaust heat still gets to into the egr. And if the egr cooler leaks coolant it could still get into the combustion chamber. Best thing to do is do an ecm program so it runs optimally without the egr and do blockoff plates on the physical egr so it won't affect anything.
