Was just about to say the same thing! Anthony Kiedis said about this house: “A couple things about this house, the first place the Beatles took LSD. The 4 Beatles were staying here they took LSD, and it’s the first place that Jimi Hendrix had sex with David Frost, and David frost is still seeing a proctologist to this day, I guess Jimi was rather large.”

man, i'm so glad that even though James used Rick Rubin's mansion studio for recording the album, Rubin himself was never involved in the process of the album. Rubin would've mastered that album way too fuckin loud if he got his hands on it during that time.
@WookieeWarrior202 жыл бұрын
Imagine Dance Yrself Clean without its wild dynamics. It would have to be a totally, fundamentally different song. LCD records are so great at producing per the needs of individual songs, instead of dictating to their sounds in service of that kind of bullshit mastering philosophy.

Totally agree. Rubins a great producer to me whos made a ton of great stuff, but this album sounds fantastic the way it is.

Simpler, better times. Like, subtract Emo from 2000-2014, and it was a golden era. Kid A to...maybe Future Islands on Letterman, or TVOTR’s Seeds album. The whole Williamsburg scene; people being both highly educated but also freely creative; Vampire weekend, Dirty pros, the National, the Walkman. Wes Anderson, Spike Jonze, Charlie Kaufman,Michele Gondry, etc. Blasting Daft Punk(RIP), Justice, LCD, Animal Collective, etc at house parties. I’m not even a “nostalgia” person, but damn those times were rich! Woke up one day and it was like...”Pitbull’s New Years Eve Miami!” Who the f*ck is Pitbull?!
