I recently learned that the composer of this sweet and powerful hymn was my grandmother's uncle, which has brought me an even more personal connection to the message of these lyrics. I too know that "My Savior to my aid will come if sought in secret prayer."

This is my dad's favorite hymn. He's always said that the composer was a neighbor or friend of my great-grandparents (or some ancestors a few generations back). 😄

Cool! I have two videos on my channel of hymns that my ancestor’s brother wrote that are in the 1985 Hymns of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You can find them by tapping/clicking on my name and searching my channel for Huish.

I was lifted up today by this song. I want to be good. I want to be better. May my heart turn more often to prayer. I don't have to be alone. None of us do.

The five people who gave this a thumbs down don’t like to pray in secret; they love to pray in the streets to be seen and be praised of men.
@robertsolomon184111 ай бұрын
You don't know that. Maybe they just don't like the arrangement or this particular rendition, or maybe the camera angles. Don't assume they are substantively opposed to the doctrines espoused in the text of this song.

Remember: "secret prayers" [said anywhere] also count. Some of those private "conversations" with the Lord are more precious, personal and heart-felt than public prayers--which we need as instructed, but I speak of your personal trek along life's difficult trails. By now nearly all of you are in your 30s if you happened to have sung 9 years ago.

If theres one thing i know, its not about being religious and doing things to make your friends and Family proud, its about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, accepting his Grace for your sins and works, that when we repent of our works and Accept his grace, love him with all our hearts and Accept him as our Lord and Saviour, we a babtized with the Holly Spirit, and we are sanctified. So when your heart may feel far from him, just remember to pray and be with Him😊 God our Farther who is our Lord Saviour in the Flesh, loves you very much.

Secret Prayer is meant to be a slow hymn
@elenalohrey19712 жыл бұрын
@@colebroadbent8646 I agree. I love the fast version a lot but there’s something special with the slow version.
@elenalohrey19712 жыл бұрын
In fact I think the fast version sounds cool but in terms of the lyrics I think it’s a lot more appropriate for this hymn to be done slowly.
