We need to remembered the rules of the economy. The fewer the supply, the higher the price. In time these vans will be many, the price will be cheaper that time. It is not really competing with any bakkie. It is offering an alternative. We may regret it after 10 years when we realize that this van survived beyond the established brands. Rivals are tipping the scales at 1 million rands already. China is too far. It was not cheap to get this beauty here. Well done, incredible review.

I get your point but Hilux has earned it's title and reputation. Question is, when the dust settles which one would you have? This or Hilux?
@yissibiiyte5 ай бұрын
@@hopewellnzuza it earned it's title decades ago when it was actually well-priced for what it was. Nowadays it's lightyears behind the competition, yet is more expensive than them. Get into a Ranger after being in a Hilux and you feel like you've changed centuries; and they are pretty much equally priced. You cannot argue that the Hilux isn't EXTREMELY overpriced for what it is. Toyota sells on nothing but brand loyalty and the knowledge that it's customers will never even consider the competition. Toyota knows it can rob people blind and get away with it. Just look at a "new" (40-year old) LC 70-series that's more cheaply built than a Renault Kwid, yet costs R1mill.
@hopewellnzuza5 ай бұрын
@@yissibiiyteI totally get you and to be fair the comparison is different as Hilux is still on an old generation platform compared to a ranger new generation there will be differences favoring the Ranger that I can agree on, but Hilux has never been quick to please with technology because technology moves on quick and interests fades fast with techy stuff in cars. Strong reliability, value holding and piece of mind is the trump card. Land cruiser is a different target market, one where all the fancy gismos isn't so much a priority, rarely you'll find Cruisers kept standard without purpose built customizations on them because reliability becomes top priority when you start injecting money customizing a Land Cruiser for individuals different needs.
@yissibiiyte5 ай бұрын
@@hopewellnzuza I'm not disagreeing that outdated cars like the Land Cruiser or even Hilux have their purpose. I'm just saying that they should not be the same price as brand new, tech-laden bakkies while being so much worse than them in most metrics. An outdated bakkie should be much cheaper than a new one, just look at the Mahindra Pik-up. It is old and outdated, but I have no problems with it because it is less than half the price of other bakkies. A 70-series is even more outdated than the Mahindra, yet costs 3× the price.
