Underdog until the end. He won win a category stacked with stars and great performances. The honesty of his performance with all the anger and brokeness is unmatchable. This guy did something really special.

Had the pleasure of working with him on a stage show he wrote and performed in 10 years ago. It was a really inventive show--very dark comedy and I got to play quite a dark character myself which doesn't often happen. It was a lot of fun and he was great to work with. Very talented and a decent guy. Really pleased for him.

Deserved it. He put his whole trauma and had the guts to share it with the world. And then re-acted it.

I am so happy for Richard Gadd! His performance in Baby Reindeer was absolutely perfect. but I was thinking about the speech his character gave in one of the last episodes of baby Reindeer...the speech in the theater where he was brutally honest and revealed all his insecurities and vulnerabilities to the audience, and talked about his abuse. In this speech, his character also talked about "fame" and "success", that he wanted become famous to get recognition, not to feel judged, and make him feel less hateful about himself (boost his self esteem). As his character is based on Richard Gadd's own experiences, I think that this bit might also apply to Richard. I would like to ask him: Now that in real life he has gained all this recognition, how did it change him? did it really make him more happy as he expected?? I really hope so, he deserves this! I am just curious:)!

I tried to watch but didnt have patience. The recaps helped
He played a version of himself from 10 years ago, before loads of therapy and healing time. For that, he had to dig up old wounds and put himself back in a very dark place. So, yeah, that’s acting. It’s psychological recall instead of pretending, but it’s no different than when an actor recalls a sad time in order to make themselves cry.
