The biggest problem is that the threatened citizens are more likely to tell them what they want to hear and not what is the truth. This is basically like telling a witch that if she says she is guilty she won't end up in hell even though she never was a witch in the first place.

Even if they are here legally, the threat of deportation is terrifying.
@spencer5280_
@spencer5280_ Жыл бұрын
Especially for people coming from countries with corrupt governments. I have a friend who’s first generation American, parents came over legally from Mexico and they (his parents) refuse to leave the state or board a plane because they’re still scared their green card could be taken away at any point, even though they’re 100% legal. It also took me awhile to convince my friend to open a bank account and build credit because, back in Mexico people don’t trust banks and the government. So adding to what you said, the threat of deportation from an officer would be terrifying especially when you’re used to corruption. It really opened my eyes when he broke down their POV to me.

@@spencer5280_ I know just what you mean, we have many friends that here legally that fear deportation. They too pay everything in cash and do not have a bank account. They nearly lost their house because when taxes were due they paid in cash and the clerk did not record the payment correctly.

Mr. Rivers Your relationship with your son warms my heart, especially while my 3yr & 5yr old sons are losing their father right now to drugs. He was always a very hands on and involved dad since birth. He raised them himself while I worked a lot. He bathed, changed, feed , played with them their whole lives. Of course I’m losing a once loving husband, but it hurts so much seeing them lose their father, their best friend, their role model. Just watching your videos, trials help me ease my mind but the way you love and praise your son and still are a great father to him, gives me some peace seeing that!

The part where Bruce said the def. might be able to even get part of the cops testimony thrown out. I always think about being a juror and the court telling you that you can't take his testimony into consideration when coming up with a verdict but that doesn't erase it from a person's brain so does it really matter at that point? If you watch the whole cross, the attorney really messed up a few times. Bruce skipped it (or Michael cut it out) but when he was walking back to the podium, the prosecutor simply said "your honor," and the judge said "sustained. Counsel, I've asked you a couple times [to stop being argumentative]." The judge's patience was running thin during this line of questioning because of how far he was pushing his cross. He made multiple argumentative (for laypeople, argumentative in the sense of a closing argument, not argumentative in the sense of yelling at someone; that'd be "badgering") comments as well as made/performed implicatory noises and behaviors. For the first half of his cross, which this video does not cover, it made him look completely out-of-touch. Plus, the prosecution basically nullified the entire section with the first two questions of their redirect: "You said that wasn't a true and accurate list of all the suspects. Who needs to be added?" "It's missing the defendant's name." "And what would that be?" "Jamell Demons." I said it in another comment, but I think his demeanor is earned in the part that this video covers. The detective's behavior was repulsive, and that line about Haitian jails is particularly disgusting. The defense is right to call it out. Even if it was sustained, that detective should at the very least be the subject of some official investigation for his conduct.

So excited for you, Bruce. Wish Michael The Content Genius could set up some kind of meet and greet OR, how about streaming one of your shows with a small audience? Have you ever thought of that? Michael.....now's your time to take a poll and see how many people would like to see your dad do one of his videos live. Of course, I don't live in Minnesota, rather on the West Coast, but it's something that can be planned out. It would just be fun to meet all of you.....I'm sure your fans would agree!

I know there are bad officers out there but imo there is a fine line on these interrogation tactics. I’m a crime junky and I often wonder how I’d feel if I wanted the murderer found who killed my loved one.

I think the way you did the esign thing today was the best yet. Before my mom passed we were at a loss as how to get a power of attorney and what exactly we could do because I live In Arkansas and my sister lives in Nashville Tennessee so getting things done that required signatures was so complicated and had I known about esign back then it sure would have helped. So thanks for todays words!

Before I forget congrats Bruce on ur 3rd acquittal in trail I bet the state ur going up against in court hates seeing you in trial lol. But If I’m innocent I’m taking the stand , making it clear there nothing to hide and would make sure everything checks out with backstory to prove that , instead of just making it seem like hiding something. Really surprised today Melly didn’t want any more witnesses or evidence showing he’s not guilty, one witness for the Defense is crazy but it might work . I’m definitely looking forward to reaction video on today witness and both parties resting.

Defense was using his intimidation voice while cross examination, He done it few times in this trial.It’s a strategy they use in court sometimes it works sometimes it don’t. Jury members could think that defense is using this tactic to get truth or whatever and it could help in the end. With this trial closing Thursday with closing statements we will probably see a verdict Friday not sure if jury will be out long before reaching verdict , If Jury is deliberating till this time next week then most likely melly will beat the case . Longer the jury is out better Melly has of being found not guilty.

Yeah, he had his dander up, like Bruce said. They tried to do the same with the ballistics expert, and imo it failed spectacularly. The cross of the expert was extremely weak; he was so confident and deftly weaved through the narrative that the defense tried to portray. I actually somewhat disagree with Bruce here, but not by much. I think the majority of this cross was absolutely terrible. The sheer number of sustained objections bypassed much of the rest of the trial. Not to mention, his list of "suspects" was, in my opinion, entirely ineffective. He kept cutting the detective off and the prosecution made many sustained objections, and it consequently came across more like he was pulling the list out of thin air rather than something that actually reflected how many missed suspects there were. Where I agree with Bruce is that I think impeaching the detective over his coercive techniques was effective. It makes the detective look extremely slimy. Even though it was objected to and sustained, that line about Haitian jails is particularly repulsive. The redirect of the detective, which I haven't watched it, while doubtless be interesting if the prosecutor tries to rehabilitate him on that point, if it's even possible.

The problem is, the way this defense attorney came across during that entire cross made him lose all credibility with the jury. I mean, the detective had a good answer for every single question he asked which is why he kept becoming more and more angry and more and more frustrated. He startes snapping at the judge lmao who does that? I think he blew whatever point he was trying to make in this exchange because he was getting blown out.

After watching that trial today I can say clearly that Melly’s defense couldn’t overcome that cell phone, forensics, and trajectory evidence. All of that nailed Melly to that crime. Then for his defense to put his friend on the stand today was even more dumb. That guy literally lied on the stand and got caught up when the prosecution read back his own statements given to the state when initially questioned. He also gave information that was clearly false when placed against other verified information given by other defense witnesses. Dude basically helped the prosecution place guilt on Melly🤣

Stunned no one was called by the defense to refute the prosecutors ballistic expert, he literally disproved the drive by theory. Im sure the jury will likely assume this means they couldn’t find one to contradict the states expert, which is a problem for the defense..

By doing that it will prove he was at the scene of the crime his defense is he wasn't there to begin with so bringing in experts to say otherwise is pointless because it would say he was involved and placed him at the murder scene

The reality is that the detective was not given a lot to work with. Perhaps if he was not so aggressive, there would be zero possibility of justice being served. It is the same fight that the prosecutor has. She ain't dealing with right or wrong, per se. She is straight up fighting against lies and fleeting behavior as it relates to pursuit of justice. The consciousness of guilt displayed by the defense. This ain't even close.

You think threats of death on behalf of the state to citizens is ok or morally right? 100k Track who he threatened with being deported and DYING had nothing to even do with this crime. Unbelievable. You know cops do kill people everyday, right? So their threats of having someone deported and killed for not lying for them is a serious threat, not 'aggressive.' I can only pray you're in no position of power over anyone in your life if you find this even reprehensible behaviour even slightly acceptable.

@@catasrophieGrrlthat’s what I think is so disgusting is that everyone is okay with these dirty police tactics because they believe melly committed those crimes. If he did or not isn’t relevant to how an officer should conduct a investigation, the only thing I’ve gotten from this case so far is the police want to charge melly really bad and are willing to lie and threaten “witnesses” to get what they want
