This is not a guide, pobs are scuffed and for testing purposes only. If somebody does a testrun and has some feedback hmu on discord. Pob is currently calculating the dmg incorrectly. Not sure what's wrong exactly but play around with chaos res in config and you'll see for yourself! I' MIGHT make this into an actual build once we see patchnotes. If Archmage doesn't get nerfed and no crazy transfigured gems come out this is my most likely candidate rn.

This is really good. One thing I'd add on the despair ring - consider Awakener Orbing it if those orbs are cheap. Donor item an awful despair on hit Hunter ring; recipient item an Amethyst Ring with one of shaper curse mitigation, warlord global crit multi, or Shaper or Crusader global crit. Shaper Amethysts are usually cheap early, and I'm particularly partial to the curse mitigation Shaper suffix.

If you go with Voll's vision for additional regen, note that you cant use corrupted gloves for curse on hit.

Also disable spell suppression mastery. Would stay away and get a big regen roll from like chest armour and belt if really want more life regen. Another option is recoup, on rings.

I'm pretty sure ignore works just like penetration. It doesn't modify enemy resistance like a curse or exposure would. So if elemental res is the highest then it would apply the hit as if the monster had no resistance. There is no actual confirmation of this, but it is also explicitly stated (in other forum posts) how reducing res works and 'ignore' was never included. And then just from a sanity perspective it would be very strange to create 'ignore' but force it to go down the list of resistances until it hit chaos and then make people play contradiction exactly the same way as the base (un)transfigured gem. edit: added (un)

What I did for testing was basically activate the exarch altar that gives 80% chaos and fire res. I didn't feel a difference. Which means that the fire res being as high as the chaos res or higher SHOULD negate the res entirely. If it didn't work that way, I would've had 80% chaos res mobs which I would've definitely noticed. Always possible I made some kind of logical error though with the rest of my gear but this will be the running theory for me for now.

@@Palsteron if you want to be really thorough, POEDB has resist profiles for all map bosses. You could engineer a situation where a boss has extreme chaos res but not so high ele resists - have a cursebot attack the map boss's fire res (ele weak/flammability) and tap Exarch altars for +chaos/fire res. Then compare this to the same boss but when the cursebot doesn't intervene. If your hypothesis is right, it'll be extremely obvious, the cursebot will decrease your damage by a factor of 4 by reducing the boss's fire resist below the chaos res. The roll range for damage on pure chaos skills is (almost always) 80-120% of base damage, so a factor of 4 will be extremely obvious.

Ignore works like a separate flag entirely. It's more like... "for the purpose of this calculation, treat ele res as 0". But it never modifies the monster res itself. So in a party situation, the Templar critting or not has 0 impact on how much dmg the other person is doing. The other scenarios all involve situations of modifying the monster res in some way or a debuff that interacts with that res. Inquisitor just skips the ele res check entirely and calculates dmg at "100%". This is also why you'd do LESS dmg if a monster had resistance in the massive negatives. So in the interactions with hexblast, it doesn't even matter when the crit condition is checked in the logic, it still checks against the same monster res stats since those stats are never altered.

Thx for all the work Pal. One question, as I am not a build maker, just a not very good build enthusiast. How would the new Warden ailment nodes work with Hexblast? Would it apply the 2 Scorches, 2 sec Freezes, Hoarfrost and Shocks? The 2 Scorches would lower Elemental Resists even more than Inquisitor and Despair could take care of Chaos Resist if you still wanted to use Hexbalst of Contradiction. Avatar of the Wilds doesn't look like it would work as is increases Elemental Damage so the last Lab Points are up for grabs depending on whether or not Tinctures could be helpful. As a Ranger you could potential steal Gathering Winds, Master Surgeon etc. in endgame. Or am I just completely off base here? I guess it wouldn't work as "you" need to inflict the Ailments, not the Mines.

@@beasthaven1571 most Hexblast builds I've seen are for sanctum runs and the build is very glass Cannon like, It wasn't that good for maps even with 20 div gear. But oh man did it delete bosses.

@@Tathamet all I wana do is sanctums day 1-3 and beyond but being able to do sanctum is amazing as mapping has never been for me . I use to run lab sanctum looks like fun and the final boss 💜 looks fun to fight

I played Hexblast of Contradiction Inquisitor in Affliction. My build key differences was: I used Curtain Call with tristacking and Rebuke of the Vaal + Spellblade Support + Battlemage Ascendancy (i used forbidden jewels because they are quite cheap for this node). Also I used Profane proxy with Punishment over Shock Skitterbot and Curse on hit gloves with Enfeeble/TempChains. Got it to about 35 million pinnacle dps.

Oh, you can actually craft curse on hit with harvest bench? Neat. Added this to list of possible starters. I actually like arma brand leveling way better than pyroclast. And pretty hight priority i'd say: most of my other options so far have serious deficiencies and in general not as versatile as hexblast

From my understand the logic this follows is that due to the fact that you are ignoring the ele res not removing or lowing it hexblast must still target it as it is the mobs highest res!

hmm , so if the gem counts as aura with high impact , does that mean the +2 aura corruption on body chest also affects the hexblast gem?

If you're talking about +2 to aura gems, then it only affects the gems that have the aura tag. So Hexblast would not benefit from that. It's not an considered an aura until it's actually effected by the support on the cast. You can always check in POB or in game as well just to make sure.

I would also not encourage playing the energyblade setup if you want to run t17s with it - 80% of the mod combinations completely brick the build or make you deal zero damage

@@beasthaven1571 I played ignite witch until I was done leveling and had some divs to blow. Would not suggest in a league start scenario if you care about XP. The squish was real even with mageblood.

​@@beasthaven1571 You cannot level on hb mines, it's super slow and inefficient in early stages. The best way is to play something like dd cr and swap on lvl 78+ or better to farm out charge stacking setup and switch after that. Actually, to rush sanctum on start, hb pathfinder is the best option

totems are kinda fake dps since they die too much and need rampup time, I'd rather just do Withering Step on 8 stacks and then wait for balance of terror

Dude it feels like this league has been going on for 6 months already. It sucks since the league was dead on arrival and its a 4+ month league with no other content in between. Luckily torchlight and last epoch will get me to the next one.

Hex blast of contradiction was great this league, shame the league itself didnt offer much after the economy flatlined. If anyone wants a league start "guide" thats been put to practice, id recommend looking into the videos Captain Lance made about league starting a pre-map, heist only templar build that gradually upgrades gear used by both builds - with the currency gains from pre map heist (6l ivory tower, astramentus, cyclopean coil, ect) then saving currency for build enabling gear to actually start mapping (the actual transfigured gem version, a curtains call with a corrupted enchant for 90%socketed gem reservation, leveled gems like Energyblade, ect)

I felt the same way until I tried Ice Shot Of Penetration, also tried out Hexblast last league and it was pretty damn fun. I'd say give it a try again. Even the leveling process is pretty fun once you get Pyroclast Mines I think in Act 3. Insane damage and with automation it's even better. Before then, just set your detonate button to something that you don't mind holding the button the whole time. For me, I use detonate on TAB and throw mines with the E key. Super easy.

Myself, i will get Ice trap of hollownes online next league start, probably one of the best starters due to giga big AoE and perma freeze on everything. I made run without sunblast up to quest bosses with Rime Gaze and its just not fair, this unique is so god damn underrated - even Conc support alone is a big deal, such a strong 1-3c unique on league start. ps. Just looked at what i made run with and spell blade support + Rebuke of the vaal carrying hard no cap, even without battlemage its so much damage gain before you can get +levels (Gonna nerf spell blade next league for sure)

Mines rn are basically selfcast with autotargeting. Only annoying thing usually is having to prethrow and not explode on bosses, which isn't a problem here because Hexblast only explodes if it has a target so they just chill there.

Have you ever play Hexblast mines? You can start playing as soon as you get curse on hit from either blasphemy or gloves level 33 or so - and then you just snowball from here, completly ignoring what happens on screen because your hexblast autotarget like there is no tomorrow (Sometimes going off screen making me think where the hell is enemies). The most fun related mine build i ever played
