Leaked Xbox Insane Studio Buyout Publishing Acquisitions | WB Bandai Namco Konami Sega EA & More

Since 2018 Xbox has been building up a leading world-class suite of Studios for their platform. Prior to this major change the Xbox was made up of purely Halo gears and four to studios with little funding for Microsoft to support the Xbox console brand in its games. Right now confidential information has been revealed showing a massive initiative to buy up and acquire world-class publishers and major studios to the Xbox brand and exclusive content is about to become a major identity for Xbox.
FTC hearings have run at the end of June 2023 and through the investigations and questioning documents and answers from leads at Xbox like Sarah Bond and Phil Spencer have revealed major acquisition plans, exclusive game deals and a very bold strategy of acquiring some of the world's biggest publishers. There is a list of some 100 plus developers and publishers that Xbox has on a Consideration List, but the real powerful reveal is a list of potential fits for Xbox Game Studios.
An email surfaced from the findings with the FTC from Matt Booty the head of Xbox game Studios 2019 stating "“We are in a very unique position to be able to go spend Sony out of business”

I appreciate that you brought up XBox’s lack of comic book games. I’m a huge Marvel fan since I was very young. I saw you mentioned WB games and possible DC games. Has anybody asked Phil Spencer or any of the other XBox execs about any potential games based on Marvel characters in the pipeline? I would love to see a new X-Men games in the line of the older X-Men legends game but any Marvel game would be great. I liked Guardians of the Galaxy.

@@trinipsycho1507, They do not. Disney owns Marvel. Sony does have the film and I believe gaming rights to Spider-Man. Fox had those rights for the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Daredevil and an assortment of others but then Disney bought Fox.

I was thinking about if the ABK deal goes through with Microsoft. Activision Blizzard has Radical Entertainment under there umbrella. They were responsible for the best HULK game ever made...The Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction. If Microsoft could get in talks with Marvel games and see if they can get Radical Entertainment to make The Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction 2 for XBOX/ PC. That would be great. Radical Entertainment can use the Unreal engine 5 tech and make it co-op somehow.

I'd rather a game that takes an age then the flops that plague the industry tbh. Developers like rockstar may take 5 to 10 years but when they drop they shake the industry! If all the best titles like Elderscrolls, Need for speed, Tony hawks, Spiderman, fable, assasins creed etc etc didn't belong to Banoboes and released every 10 years like real games should you wouldn't have companies like Sony recreating ancient games folks actually buy at full price 😂 how ridiculous is that though even Spiderman hasn't advanced since playstation 3 mechanically and they are releasing "new" ones every two years glorified DLC'S with a new story and slightly more fighting moves and stylized swinging but ultimately I couldn't finish Miles because after the 1st one the same gameplay is mind numbingly boring! This is not the sort of excitement I'm looking for. I don't think publishers like Tencent or Amazon will be interested in consoles. Maybe streaming boxes, but they'd be much more interested in PC and Android. Consoles are a very expensive venture, and it's becoming less and less worth it as time goes on. PC is _massive_ now. Why put so much money into developing and manufacturing consoles when you could just put your games on PC and existing consoles?

As far as MicroSoft investing in a superhero Xbox/GamePass exclusive, I for one think "Deadpool" might be something they should pursue. Hire the founders of RockSteady games - to lead one of their AAA studios' dev teams (either The Initiative or create a brand new studio). Imagine if such a team could make an open world "Deadpool" game, voiced by Ryan Reynolds. Another possible candidate for an exclusive superhero game could be "Hellboy". Just be sure to base the character in the Guillermo delToro series of movies. In fact, since the 3rd film likely isn't gonna happen, why not adapt the 3rd movie into a triple-A video game w/the cast? Have delToro produce it, w/ Ron Perlman, Doug Jones & Selma Blair portraying their respective film characters. Perlman & Jones could even mo-cap & voice them.

Personally, I for one would love to see next-gen video game versions of The Hulk (next-gen Ultimate Destruction), Mighty Thor (see the God of War remakes for how it could play), Wonder Woman (which could plsy more like the original God of War games/Devil May Cry), The Punisher, & Hellboy, just to name a few. Difference is, none are probably as popular as Deadpool right now &, if done correctly, would make for a great Xbox exclusive.

Jesus Christ. ESVI will release 17 years after Skyrim. There will be and already is a lot of people who have moved on from gaming due to age and responsibilities. This game is so far removed from it's predecessor I think its disingenuous to call it a sequel. I wonder if there will be any weight or hype for the game at this point. To put this in context. The first Elder Scrolls game released in 1994, there were 3 main line games and I believe 3 off shoots of Elder Scrolls between them and Skyrim 2011, which was 17 years. What have we gotten during these past 12 years? Skyrim re-releases... Oh and another fun context to think about. BGS games are mostly always mature rated. A person born the same year Skyrim came out will be old enough to purchase the sequel to it at launch :)

A monopoly becomes illegal when it creates "Exclusive dealings" requiring a buyer or seller to do buy or sell all or most of a certain product from a single supplier. @@AdamantJedi and also there's plenty of stuff that don't have their own plataform, but are definetly competition too, Thousands of Indies every year, keeping in mind that 1 single big hit indie game, can become as big as a lot of the big Triple AAA gaming companies, as well as multiple chinese and japanese companies, the gaming industry is more than it's plataforms and devices, if we're talking about monopoly in GAMING, ALL of GAMING has to be included, and that is impossible to do. even more considering companies like Apple, Google, Amazon and Facebook are investing in the gaming industry as well, and Microsoft sure as hell can't buy all of those.

I don’t expect another major Xbox acquisition for a while. And after all the headache from the ABK deal, I’m not sure if Xbox will want to go through all this again. Nor do I expect Regulators to give them any easier of a time.

​@@LiteralTable756 The only reason ABK was such a headache is due to Call of Duty. None of the other studios have anything that comes within a mile of Call of Duty. It's not the amount of IPs and studios you own that dictate monopolies, Tencent would be the gaming monopoly if so. COD is the franchise with the third highest sales volume. Only being beaten by Pokemon (2nd place) and Mario (1st place). The fun fact is, if COD wasn't part of the package, this deal would have been done last year. Call of Duty is the only reason Sony, and FTC/CMA have any sort of chance at a case.

Before most of these games appear there probably will be XBox next on the market and PS6. Both hopefully having something similar to DLSS3. Then FPS will cease being a real problem for casual players and both consoles will look really good. Peripherals and delivering games will become top priority and if MS does not treat their game developers well, they will continue to leave them and labels won't be enough to produce good games. We have example of how label isn't worth anything without developers in Redfall. If their best developers didn't leave them this wouldn't be such a flop.

@@benprins8240 From what I've understood, it's already in development, Machine Games having two teams at work... So in my predictions, it's schedule for Q4 2025. But I could be wrong as it's rare for a studio to ship two games the same year. It could be one of the surprises we still expect for 2024 or being pushed back to 2026 if Indiana Jones is really coming in 2025. Or vice versa. But well, according to my initial estimations, that's more of 2025 game.

there hasn't been much resistance from anyone except the CMA and FTC, and the FTC is losing the case and embaressing themselves. and the CMA is also being heavely criticized by politicians on europe so, i don't think there's any reason for them to worry. sure, dealing with these things, even if they win, are annoying, but they have the money to do it.

Xbox was My favorite but I started on Nintendo and PlayStation. Now I usually buy all the game consoles for variety. But I feel like Xbox is creating a monopoly and it’s hard to support their constant purchases of every good game developer. Xbox buys any developer that makes a successful game especially if it was super popular on PlayStation. I think Nintendo and PlayStation and game Developers should join forces. Don’t get me wrong I’m a Xbox fan but I don’t like the Idea of them wanting everything or forcing developers.

EA is definitely on Microsoft’s radar. I definitely wouldn’t discount them buying EA. EA’s made it clear they’re open to an acquisition/merger of late and Microsoft doesn’t want someone who may not continue the partnership they have with EA for EA Play on Game Pass Ultimate taking that away. As big as EA is it’d still be a substantially less expensive acquisition than ABK has been and Microsoft will still have a crapload of money to burn even after the ABK deal is done and paid for. I will not be at all surprised if MS acquire EA within the next 2 or 3 years.

Honestly if I was Phil Spencer I'd say that if Sony has a problems with our acquisitions that Microsoft will hold off on acquisitions off and let Sony and Nintendo fight each other to get major studios just to even out the playing field. If it shuts the FTC, CMA, and Jim Ryan up and keeps Nintendo from eventually complaining.

Why would Phil Spencer do that? Essentially he would be willingly giving both Sony power to screw over Xbox because if Sony was to eventually raise enough money they would end up probably buying Take 2 for Grand Theft Auto and on top of it he'd also be giving Nintendo power to screw Xbox out of Japanese studios because if Nintendo will focus on getting major studios in Japan. Yes it would be memeworthy to see Nintendo grab Sega but Nintendo may end up putting end dates for Sega titles on other platforms.
