You don't need to remove the retainer ring when installing line, the line is made to push through the retainer ring and click into place.

*update* I just finished fixing my my leak with the help of this video. I bought the "picks and hooks" tools and stopped by home depot and picked up some #5 O-rings danco 96722. All I did was disconnect the bolt from the line. Then stretched the O-ring around the line down to the lip stopper. I pushed the line back into the bolt and snapped in the clip so the bolt and line were reattached securely then bolted it back in. No more leaking transmission fluid!!! $10 for pick set and $2.27 forO-rings

If you're going to do the lines, especially the front two, have the fittings before you start. Is much easier to just return them later if you do not need them. Speaking from personal experience, it's very annoying to stop the job to go get extra parts.

Generally this is a very nice video although one issue during the installation was wrong. The retainer on the AcDelco fitting should be pre-assembled before installing the fitting. Removing the retainer, as you show in your video, is only during tube line removal, means when you wish to disconnect the transmission line. This fitting is a Quick-Connect unit, so for connecting the tube you just need to push the tube against the fitting until you hear a "click".
@caseyavery987410 жыл бұрын
What's part number for the fitting above that one
@dannyf499510 жыл бұрын
casey avery I'm not sure I understand your question, However there are many types and sizes of transmission line connectors. Whenever there is a spring as you show in the movie that fitting is a Quick Connect unit. Means to install the tube u just need to push the tube inside while the spring is already installed.

The the new trans quick connect fittings on my 4L60E were leaking bad after I replaced the rotted cooler lines. If the cooler line is not going in straight and is a little cocked its gonna leak. hey boss so I paid 2500 6 months ago to have my 2007 ls 3.5 impala transmission rebuilt because it lost drive. still operated in 1st and 2nd. so two days ago it went out they said I destroyed the differential and axle separated. my question is how do I know they even rebuilt it in the 1st place and didn't just replace the drive band. I think you're the only person smart enough to know. also what are your thoughts on just buying a new reman compared to having it rebuilt if you doubt they'll do what they claim. thanks Bro!

I see there is option for check ball style connectors as well, not sure if that is just to stop fluid loss when swapping lines, hopefully not a 1-way valve. Mine rusted out right at the fitting, hoping the rust did not cut the o-ring in case part store in woods does not carry these.. Then if check-ball style were ok to use, not sure what they may carry.. Here they are far more I am sure, even online they are 5 a pop for non check ball and 10 with..

Just confirmed for those that have to go though it. The long connector part (#800-637) is for the vertical tranny cooler line and the short one as described in this video is for the horizontal tranny cooler line. Both were leaking so I replaced both but had issues at the various part stores getting a definitive answer on which part goes where. Now we know. Thanks, George Ski.
