@russell Dotson.. I think you tube moved your comment. Not sure why but they’ve been doing that quite a bit with people. I just mess around. I see where your coming from though , but there is a reason for it. A lot of moisture can get in there and that’s an integral part of the system. So to prevent than and prolong the seal they use a moisture wicking grease to keep the system clean outside of the seal. Granted over 100k miles it looks bad there anyway but it’s the thought that counts

Nice tutorial Busted Knuckles!!! I've seen video's where people literally remove the whole gear box, take the top cap off and start messing with all kinds of internal seal's just to fix that top one 🤣. I do have a question, mine is leaving like a siv. I noticed you had a seal guide tool, or seal seat tool. In your opinion, would I be able to use a deep well socket? Or would you caution no to?
@bustedknucklebydieseldr32282 жыл бұрын
Glad this came in handy for you. You can use a deep socket, just need that perfect size to get over the shaft and enough to cover the seal. The tool works great but I would also use anything close if I didn’t have it. Hope it works out for you and you get to save that $$$$

Great work man is there any other way to pop out that seal because I don't have that fitting..
@bustedknucklebydieseldr32283 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. So for that seal I’ve seen people drill a self tapping screw into it which I think is dangerous to the bearing. I’ve seen people pick it out which can cause damage to the bore if there not careful. And pinching for the return line instead of using the fitting. I’d prob use that last one if I didn’t have the fitting.

@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 what do you call that fitting?
@rafaelcadena442 жыл бұрын
@@paperboy554 you can use a male hydrologic fitting with the same thread pitch. A hydrologic fitting prevents any fluid from flowing through. It needs the female fitting which presses the center nipple on the male fitting. So just buy the male fitting and you'll be good.

What are the steering symptoms of a leaking input seal?
@bustedknucklebydieseldr32286 ай бұрын
The only system you’re going to see is a loss of power steering fluid and a mess. If it gets low enough you will hear power steering pump whine and growl.

@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 Thanks for your reply. What we have going on is a seal thats seeping. Once the fluid gets heated up, it seeps more. I have similar issue the vehicle is tata sumo changed seals but again leaked do i need to overhaul the steering gear box?
@bustedknucklebydieseldr32282 жыл бұрын
Great question, if it’s leaking from the same spot, the upper I put shaft seal. Than I would perform the procedure again and Carefully inspect for any damage to the shaft or hole where the seal rides. If nothing is wrong there than there should be no reason why it isn’t sealing. And the second time may cure it. If there is than you might be looking at gear box replacement.

@bustedknucklebydieseldr32283 жыл бұрын
Great question and thank you for watching. Appreciate your support. In most cases for the steering gearbox the input seal is leaking. But there is also times when the fittings on the pump is leaking or the pump itself seal to the air compressor is leaking. Just got a clean it up and run it and see where it’s leaking from I shouldn’t take too long to find out because it gets under pressure pretty quick. If it’s the fittings they can be a real pain sometimes Unless you have long skinny arms.
