I love the card addition it adds an element of unpredictability. To the spectator it could be any card any number of movements, it's less controlled by the magician. I think if I would have saw the trick with your card variant it may have stumbled me for a second on how it was done. I am one of those analytical people you talk about and figured this out quick with the original version. Great stuff Spidey keep them coming I love your tutorials and the knowledge you provide.

The candy version is fun, but I'd only use it on children as I think most adults would figure it out. Your version is far more professional that requires skill and adds an element of randomness (though fake) to the illusion. Well done.
@RichardDominguezTheMagicIsReal3 жыл бұрын
Whether an effect appeals to children or adults never relies on the effect but on the performance. I have seen some of the legends (I don't mean recent magicians) perform effects you ould only perform for children and watched them WOW an audience of adult spectators. It's never in the equipment, it'salways in the performance (that's what she said, LOL). No disrespect intended just wanted to state another pointof view.

Since the last one is an odd number, you can alternate the deck even and odd cards, and when they stop peek the bottom and decide if that should be their card or the one on the top of the stack.

Hi Spidey, Your version definitely adds a big “mystery”! I think most people who do magic will suspect, It always ends up being the same color, especially since you can do it only once to the same person BUT that “pick a card” really brings the trick up to a whole new level! There’s nothing like a good “force” to throw you off, lol! Great “add-on” Spidey! Your friend, Barry

First time I have seen it. I did catch the math angle on first seeing. Someone who likes math and logic puzzles will likely catch on. But for most folks, yeah...pretty cool. The card force would make it more effective. Especially if you did it again and forced a different odd number the second time. Someone always wants to see it again to see if they can figure it out, right? But pretty cool, overall.

To make it more interesting, you can allow people to start in any of three starting places: either end, or the middle. They can start in different places, and not tell you which, and I'm pretty sure it _should_ still work. You just have to remember to make up for the explanatory move that no longer happens, so you'll be doing an odd number of moves every time, and you'll have to be sure they know the rules without the handy tutorial. I'm still worried that it's a bit too easy to figure out for adults, though. Would more easily fool kids, but I feel it might be difficult to get them to understand and comply with the rules. 🤔

I have a fun idea, it's a game of MAGIC. Just like a game of SKATE, 2 magician friends would compete where the first one would perform a card trick, then the second one would immediately have to perform the same effect (other method allowed), so the challenge is to be creative and quickly figure out any way to copy the effect you just saw, if you fail, you get a letter, the first one to get the word M.A.G.I.C. loses.

So sorry, though your idea is great I will like to keep it simple and it's kind of anywhere trick so cards kind of restrict that. Still I love you Spidey and your tricks and your suberb ideas

I think, if I did it for one person, I would go for a bold finale. For the last movement I would give free choice of moving up to five times. Allowing for three ideal endings the odds would be stacked in my favor. If the participant chooses 2 or 4, I would suggest to move one more „for luck“, which would again lead to an ideal ending. If the participant stays with the even number I would use the liar‘s principle to figure out, where she ended up.

Very nice! Btw, I already knew this trick, but the presentation was totally different: you take 5 spectators, you put them in a row and you hand to the second one a ring or something small like that, and you go on from there; also I think the version I know is more "mentalistic" because in order to eliminate spectators you ask them a question and they have to answer with the truth if they have the ring and false if they don't, and you pretend to feel when they're lying. I feel this way the trick is more "magical", the only problem is that it could happen that spectators intentionally don't follow the rules when answering (so they tell the truth when they don't have the ring and viceversa), so the trick still works but they understand that it clearly doesn't have anything to do with mind reading...

I perform a version with an orange 🍊 and a group, with them passing the orange amongst themselves. A card is first chosen from the deck, the card is stashed safely away, the orange is passed, the card becomes a prediction of who has the orange, then the card is revealed to be inside the fruit

This is a great trick, in particular for kids. They can eat the candy :-) Some sort of randomization is needed for adults, but I think the card force for the 3 at the end just comes out of he blue and is not connected to the rest of the trick. So you should have some kind of force for each of the numbers. For the first one, I would ask people to think of any animal, and then let them move as many times as the animal has legs. That works with any animal (just hope they don't pick centipede), unless they pick their uncles poor old dog who got run over by a car and had a leg amputated. Even if they pick a worm with zero legs, it still works. Then maybe a card force for the 1, and yet another thing (with only odd outcomes) for the last. Smart-ass mode on: The rainbow has a different order :-) Smart-ass mode off.

Hey spidey.I ve been learning mentalism for while now and I have 2 question to ask from you, 1. Is it ok to use card in mentalism ? 2.When you say you are a mind reader to somebody they will imedietly say Then read my mind, What to do say when that happens.?
@ashnas22583 жыл бұрын
Yea you can use cards in Mentalism. If someone asks to read their mind perform I like to perform a card effect. I have a spectator think of a card then pull it out of the pack. Then I “lose it in the middle” but really control it to the top. I do a card peak so I know what their card is. There are many different card peaks so you can look on KZbin. I believe Spidey has some on his channel. Then cut the deck so their card is actually in the middle and have the spectator shuffle the cards. You can say something like “if you want you can even shuffle the deck”. Then you can reveal their card after they shuffle however you want. I like to do it slowly first reveal the color then suit then value. You can also go through the pack and pull it out and show u have got out their thought of card. It’s a cool and easy impromptu effect. Hope this helps!

@@ashnas2258 Thanks dude.Thanks for this advice .I agree doing a peek and then revealing the card is a really strong and good effect . But I think if I use cards during mentalism spectator will think its a trick instead of mind reading . What do you think about that.

Yes... And I think you should atleast be able to do the basic forces,switches and changes... because some of the best tricks in mentalism are card tricks... And one advice I learnt was... If you're going to do a card force at the end,, why not turn it into a mind reading card trick? Instead of candy, you can deal five random cards on the table. If you're unable to remember five random cards, and their order, I do not think it would take away from the trick at all, if instead of random cards you can deal ace thru five Also, after they have moved four times, since it works with any even number, you can ask them, "do you want to to keep moving?' If they do, ask them "one time or two?"" As many times they say two, they just keep going. If they say 'one,' after that move, that's when you do the card force wirh the three.

Nice … I think I saw a similar piece the first time done by Banachek with (boring) envelopes and with switching them, the handling with moving just from one object to the other is more simple … the addition with the card is adding an additional layer which is nice (and if you don’t have a deck of card at hand can be adapted I.e. by mentally forcing any odd number, by using a mental die etc) …

Well...before you begin the trick..you could just explain them how free will is just an illusion...like how as a mentalist you could control everyone one of your audiences freewill... Or you could say freewill doesn't exist and how every random choice we make is not actually random but only perceived as random... And then when you control every ones choice to the same object, your statements are justified and every one is amazed.

Comments: (1) I think you need to use more objects than just 5. (2) I think at least one of the move sequences should be larger than 4 moves, which was the largest number used in this demo IIRC. (3) Over Zoom, if the performer is watching everyone over Zoom, moving their fingers across their screens, the performer could see their movements and conceivably figure out their moves. The idea of forcing the number of moves with a deck of cards could be helpful misdirection.
