I think 睡衣/瞓覺衫 is a little bit tricky. FOR ME, 睡衣 is pajamas, which is really designed for sleeping. and I don't even have one in my life. while 瞓覺衫 is like, whatever it is, a sweatshirt, a T-shirt, a tank top etc., and you think it's so comfortable to wear when you're sleeping, and also maybe it's being old, so you turn it into 瞓覺衫. (but I think some people would say 睡衣 = 瞓覺衫) (also I think we don't say 瞓衫 which it sounds like you sleep on top of your clothes) 加油呀

Grace you are such inspired me by how good you speak Cantonese. I can't imagine how much time you put into this language. I must say it's not easy to learn a new language especially the two languages are totally different. Thank you for interest to learn our language. I am very proud of you. [裇] from 裇衫 is similar to "shirt" but no /sh/ sound, only /s/ sound. A classic Eng to Chin translation example. In my opinion, we say 睡衫more often in spoken Cantonese. I don't hear many people say 瞓覺衫, but it is not wrong. In written Chinese, it is written as 睡衣. For hoodie, people usually say the English word directly in daily life. Some shops translate the word to 連帽衛衣 in Chinese. It is fun and happy to see people around the world learn our mother language! Recently I become a Cantonese teacher for non-Chinese speaking students in Hong Kong and found that it is not easy for student/teacher to learn/teach Cantonese...you did a very good job! Add oil! 看到世界上其他地方的人學我們的母語,感覺既有趣又高興!最近我成爲了為非華語學生教授廣東話(和中文)的老師,發現對學生和老師來説,學/教廣東話並非一件容易的事。你的廣東話很好呀,加油!

I love to watch your Cantonese videos. I think it’s inspiring to many Cantonese learners. Maybe you should have video lessons (yes, from a learner’s point of view) on how to get all the tones right so other people can learn your tricks. There are a few things I noticed: 1) 褲 (pants) is always pronounced as fu3, 牛仔褲 would be ngau zai fu3. If you say fu2, it would be 苦 (bitter). 2) pajamas is 睡衣 seoi ji. 瞓覺衫 is more like “sleep clothes”, which is also ok to say in English. Like “put on your sleep clothes.”. 3) yeah, 頂 is the measure word mostly for hats and caps. I guess also crowns (皇冠). 4) 呔 is tie, 領呔 (leng taai) is necktie. So both are acceptable 5) you are right, to wear is 著 and wearing is 著緊 6) there are measure words in English, just not all the time - like a pair of pants, a bottle of water, a loaf of bread, a box of chocolate... 7) 服裝 is more like outfit/clothing, 衣服 is clothes, 衫 is a shirt or clothes, 恤衫 is a dress shirt, T 恤 is T-shirt, 波衫 is sweatshirt

I just found your channel, it's very good! I'm very impressed that you learned your Cantonese all by yourself! Usually we say 睡衣, that's the most common way to say pajama in Cantonese. I'd avoid 睡衫 because I never heard anyone using that term, but I'm from HK so it may be different from the saying in Guangzhou. It's rarely used but I guess you can use 瞓覺衫 if you wear comfy clothes as your pajama (like clothes that are not designed as pajama, if that makes sense). 著 = wear, 著緊 = wearing. Exercise/workout cloths is still 運動衫, hoodie can be 連帽衫.

- For Pyjamas, growing up I was taught it was Sui Yee or Sui Saam (sorry I don't know how to type the number tones :S) so literally 'sleep clothes'. Fun Gow is also sleep but more casual/colloquial. - You're right about the measure word for hat, it's Deng, so Yut Deng Moh for A Hat. - To say 'I'm wearing....', you were right in saying Ngo Jeurk Gun..., Gun meaning in the process of doing something. Hope that helps! :D

I'm so impressed by how accurate your pronunciation is..It's absolutely not easy for a non-native Cantonese speaker to do it. You know even in Hong Kong many non-native speakers living there for 20 years cannot pronoun as accurate as you!! I just can't hear any "懶音" inaccurate sound from you.

Don't know where to find these people haha
@Samo12283 жыл бұрын
@@Guresu @Guresu Try to find them online when you have time. I am sure there must be some one or some groups who is willingly to be friend ( only female ) with you if you're up front with your intention to improve Cantonese. Listen to Cantonese pop, watch Cantonese drama or movies even News as much as you possibly can. That's how I learned how to speak English way back when I was a teenager in Vietnam ( 1971 ) I also did a series of self conversation in my room almost every day. I didn't want my parents thought that I was going crazy I closed the door every time. It is like you 've created the language environment for yourself since you're not able to find one near by. I am pretty much a quad lingual person ( Chinese in Cantonese /Mandarin, Vietnamese, English as well as some Japanese ) So...Be proactive, create your own resources.
