I can only find the paid version. Not sure what I’m missing but I don’t see any option for the free design. Recently stumbled across your channel and love all these hats and patterns. Wanted to try out the free one first.

@@jackierand4045 click on the name of the hat in the larger type on the index...that takes you to the free files

@@madcaphatsThank you so much for the prompt response. How silly of me, I know it said to click on the larger type but that went right by me - so used to seeing something underlined to click. Your hats are wonderful. I may have to wait until after Christmas to try this but look forward to giving it a try and then getting the child’s pattern. Your price is very reasonable.

I bought the cutest fleece hat from Ruffled Flamingo on Etsy years ago and every time I wear it someone always tells me how much they love it and ask where I got it so I tell them. Well today I tried to find the link and their shop is no longer there! 😩 After searching I long time, I decided I’d just have to start making them so I could give them as gifts. Your video was the first one I found and your hat looks very similar to the one everyone loves! 😃 So, YAY! Thank you SO very much for creating and sharing this video!

What an excellent tutorial ❤ My instinct has been to sew on the crown/top before the brim - it seems more intuitive to 'complete' the top of the hat separately. By sewing the band to the brim first, the way you do, there's much more room to manoeuvre and get it lined up exactly. I'm going to make some of these without the lace band, so am wondering what to use instead for a more masculine look? Maybe a casing channel to accommodate some wide elastic??
@madcaphats5 ай бұрын
Take a look as some of the sporty fedoras on the market and go from there. You can make the hat and then add something at the bottom of the band that will fit over top of the bottom the band. The first one is a learning hat so work out your system and then go for it with number two!! Keep us posted! Thanks for watching and the best of luck! Cheers, Tori
@dshe86375 ай бұрын
@@madcaphats That's very encouraging, thank you. I will do. Good advice about the first one being a learning experience; it's easy to get disheartened if you make a mistake or it's a bit wonky on the first attempt.

Can u make this with a quality velvet Spandex instead of fleece, I love Ur hats , there so magical 💖
@madcaphats Жыл бұрын
Thank you Samantha ... I designed it for fleece ... there is one coming up that mixes fabrics. You can try stretchy velvet but I can't be sure about it without seeing and feeling the fabric. The fabric for this hat has body and weight. Thin or lightweight fabric will not be suitable.

Question: might be in instructions but when you placed the hat ban, does the stretch go horizontal?
@madcaphats10 ай бұрын
The band stretch is around the head. The top I usually cut with the stretch going front to back but it doesn't matter with the top how you lay it out.
