Thank you for this! I am not a newbie to music production (I have experience in a bunch of DAWs) , but I am still quite new to Studio One and I still have lots to learn about the workflow. Very concise and in depth overview here!

Thank you for this video. I have a question. Before, when zooming in the piano roll, I was able to see the key notes on each note I introduced as you show in the video but now, even if I do that, notes are not displayed anymore... Every note does not show if it is a c, d, e ... Every note is empty. Do you know what to do do to make them displayed again in the piano roll ? Some option to activate ? Thx

Great very detailed video! I am wondering if you know how I can change the colors of my notes that correspond with each note? For example..The C note might give me a yellow color here while I want it red. The thing is hat I've been using the same notes for colors the last 20 years with cubase, so I can immediately read the chords or notes based on the colors as I know them. Thanks!

Great video - do you know if there's a way to get it so that when you are resizing notes by dragging with the cursor, it automatically resizes to the grid? Ie if i wanted to change a note from 1/4 to 1/8th, when resizing it snaps that way rather than it resizing in line with the cursor?
@quantaaudio Жыл бұрын
You will want to be sure that the "snap" function is turned on by pressing "N" on your qwerty keyboard, and then be sure to set your quantize value to the length you want the notes to snap to. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fonLZnycd7N5Y8U

Notes are not visible anymore on the piano notes in the grid like I see on your screen. Do you know how to reactivate them ? (Zooming do not make them show)
@quantaaudio Жыл бұрын
Not sure what the issue could be, Xtadeus. I just tried in Studio One 5.5 and 6, both showed the note names. Of course, you need to be sure that you are zoomed in enough vertically/horizontally.

@@quantaaudio yes I zoomed (even until max) but notes are not showing anymore snif. I was messing around but do not know how to make them reappear. I asked on Reddi.

Hi I'm using studio one 4.5 and your videos have been a great help. Thanks for making them. I have learned a lot. However I'm currently stuck and was hoping you could help me out. I'm trying to use presence rock drum kit in the piano roll as I don't have a midi controller yet. I can put a bass drum beat on the 1st beat of every measure but that is it. If I try to put the bass on the 2nd 3rd 4th beat of the 1st measure it says no event selected. Quantize is set to 8th notes. Thanks in advance and I will see you in the next video.

Does anyone know how to change the note representations from sharp to flat? The listed items in the "Scale" menu, and the note names shown on individual events in the piano roll, and the pop-up text displayed when hovering over a note all use the Sharp representation, and I cannot find a way to change it. For example, where I would like to see D-flat, Studio One shows E-sharp . Thank you.

Quanta, firstly thank you for all of your effort. I am learning Studio One from your tuts! Question...I've googled up a storm and can't find the answer: Can I have 2 or more piano view editors detached and pinned on my second monitor? I've tried everything and can't sort it. Only one, and I have 3 midi tracks I'd love to stack.
@quantaaudio2 жыл бұрын
This is not possible, as far as I am aware. As I'm sure you noticed while trying to find a way, there is no 'pin' button for the edit windows as there is for the VST instruments and effects. Double-clicking a MIDI part immediately changes the focus of the editor to the current highlighted track. The closest you're going to get to editing MIDI for several different tracks/instruments at a time is by using the track list feature, which I cover in this video at: 18:04

Why can’t we lock the zoom on every track in the piano roll? I feel like that should be a personal preference we should be able to choose. And why do we STILL have to double click to make a note on the piano roll? This should be an option as well. I believe BOTH options will save a lot of headaches and TIME!
@quantaaudioАй бұрын
These are questions you should pose to Presonus, I have no affiliation with them and their developers. If you use the paint tool you only have to click once to add MIDI notes. I have to say though, as someone who has been working in music production for more than 20 years, the complaints that I hear from folks these days about features like this are mind-blowing. We've got an entire music studio inside of our computer and people still complain and complain and complain. I just don't get it.
