The first scene is exactly what I experienced in Thailand...mainly in Bangkok. Constantly making sure they use the meter and bargaining prices with them. I leaned some Thai from KZbin videos and it did help when pronouncing avenue numbers for example (sukhumvit jet sip nuung). Traffic is insane but it flows.

In the first sentence about 'Go to the market' you have written dta laat with a low tone over laat. Law ling is a low class consonant, the vowel is long aa and the final consonant is daw dow abrupt, or dead, so the tone of laat must be falling tone. A low class consonant cannot have a low tone. I know it is a minor detail .

Nice video. I get a little confused when i come across sentences like: 'kuen' taang duan mai ? duan เดือน which i guess means month and has very slight pronunciation difference from the duan in 'taang duan'. Another example คืน khewn and 'kuen' . It would be nice if you could explain these small differences from time to time. Thanks
@kaweejay
@kaweejay 7 жыл бұрын
ranvijay because the vowel -uan (duan=moon,month) doesn't exist in English and this sounds like you say 'der-aan'. (Er+aa) While 'duan' (quick,express,hurry) sounds like 'doo-waan' (oo+aa) Hope you can try master these vowels. And good luck!

When going back through and talking about what was said, it would be super helpful to have the Thai script instead of the Roman script (or both) - many don't have the Thai script which is annoying. It is such a bad habit to read the Roman script, and without the Thai script the lesson isn't as helpful as it could be, especially for me since I'm trying to learn to read as well. Thanks.

When do you use "chuai" or "kaw", when we make a request? Thank you.
@kaweejay
@kaweejay 7 жыл бұрын
Derek Lim 'chuai' is used with you ask someone to do something for you or help you to achieve something. Ex: Chuai tum kwam sa-aārd baán noi- (help clean the house- can you clean up the house?) OR chuai laáng jaān noi (help wash dishes- can you wash dishes?) we put the word 'noi' at the end to sound like begging and expecting ppl to do something for you. While 'kaw' is used when you request to get something or permission. Ex: kaw naám kaew nueng krub.(can I have a glass of water?) Kaw taāng noi krub. (Can you make a way for me please?/ can you move aside please?) Kaw bpai duai dai mai?(can i go with you?)
