I was taught to sew on a button very well by my foster mother. When my bio mom found out, she got me to sew all loose buttons. To this day, any buttons I’ve sewed onto a shirt or sweater, hasn’t even come off yet.

I could have used your skills a few years ago when I was reaching back to put my arm in my jacket sleeve and one of my blouse buttons popped right off! Ha ha.

You know, I am really lucky. My Mom taught me pretty much all of those things when I was a kid. I wish I could tell her how much I appreciate all she did for me.

Get the courage up to tell your dad that you love him... face to face if possible. The first few times it’s awkward - it will get warm and fuzzy quickly. So glad I told my dad how I felt (started In my early 30s). Now he’s gone but he heard me say it OFTEN. it feels SOOO GOOD!

I told him in a text message. It's a start. Ha ha.

My adult daughter was just on the phone with her dad and I this morning because she couldn't manage to get air into her tires. She can train a green horse, take Marines into winter mountain warfare training, and she's a certified EMT and a pharmacy tech., but the end of that tire hose and how it could remove air as well as add air just put her over the edge. Some basic things like that can make me feel so stupid too. There's so much knowledge required for the basics of life!

I had forgotten my car had heated seats until one day, after my husband had driven it, my seat started getting really warm. I kept thinking - this is the weirdest hot flash I've ever experienced, and then I remembered I have heated seats.

a point on the communication topic: crying is simply the body's way of providing release of the excess chemicals your brain creates when you feel intense emotions. that's why you may feel clarity and calm after a good cry! and thats why its essential when it comes to things like confrontation-- TAKE A BREAK to let yourself cry, let yourself feel all those feelings, and then COME BACK to the conversation. you'll have a fresh mind and a clearer thought process, letting you communicate way easier than you would have with an emotion-muddled mind.

When your parents don't teach you these skills .. it is not well for you when you grow up. And some people let you know what they think of you without hesitation.

Such good advice! But get to telling your dad you love him! My closest blood relative is my sister and we took years to say ‘I love you’. We don’t have the time to lose, it will feel odd but just do it. A bit of mundane advice I need to take is to learn to use my drill...I’m intimidated by it but moving to a new house where I really need to learn how to use it so I’m gonna jump right in. Wish me luck!

I'm with you on the bursting into tears in all emotional situations... it's a problem!
@HowToGYST4 жыл бұрын
Isn't it! I once burst into tears when I was told I'd missed out on a promotion to another staff member. I don't know who was more mortified, me or my boss. Ha ha.

@@HowToGYST I think my least favourite was crying when I was trying to fight my corner with the landlord of a property we rented because some of the deposit deductions were completely unfair (like charging us for 'professional cleaning and decorating ' which I knew wouldn't happen because of the condition received the house in). I was so frustrated I cried and then lost all credibility, costing us hundreds of pounds. I've mortified so many bosses (and uni lecturers) by crying at them! Usually over something much less emotive than a promotion, that's pretty understandable!

We built a flatpack piece of furniture 2,40 mt high and 3,50 mt wide. With shelves and doors and drawers. And even inside lighting. We didn't grown up. We got OLD.

You look so beautiful at your wedding! Thanks for the ideas, but I’d rather my mechanic do my car maintenance. I pay him for the security that this all thumbs gal all thumbs gal shouldn’t be doing. I’ve made possible repairs much worse

I feel the same about major things but there are still minor things that can be done, like checking the oil level, knowing what all the lights and buttons mean, putting air in the tyres, etc. =)

Us millennials get a parenting award cuz we continued the gen x child rearing catastrophe. Took me 32 years to figure out that van Halen/Kurt cocaine was ingrained. Or I'm sure British elite pop stars. 90s had beautiful nature w/o tech but damn... No tech! "It's 99 and I got was this racist government. " 🤔
