Just got back from the range and the same thing was happening to me (driver / irons). Been concentrating so much on getting a more complete shoulder turn that I was neglecting my hip turn. Went back and adjusted that and it's just amazing how that corrected everything. Thanks, mate.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the lessons that I give. Letting your lead hip turn all the way around in the backswing, makes all the difference in the world.

Thanks Matt for that explanation. I had read that before but, now I can apply that to my swing.

Great analogy, Matt re: opening a gate around the gatepost. Sometimes we end our pivot prematurely in our desire to get back to the ball as quickly as possible when we make a backswing. 👍

The analogy comes from Mike, Austin and Mike Dunaway. I can’t take credit for it. But I absolutely love what you say about ending our pivot prematurely in our desire to get back to the ball as quickly as possible. You hit the nail on the head that’s exactly what is happening.

Matt would you consider doing a video on un-even lies. Hitting with feet above/below the ball etc? Thanks. We got hit with a bunch of snow so haven't been out for a week and I'm jonesing! LOL. Have fun.

@davidjames3164 LOL! I was laughing at how you worded your response. I use the same exact phrase ‘stupid cold’ ! I’ve never heard anyone else use it. Of course, being in Florida, my idea of stupid cold would sound wimpy to you. We had 39’ F yesterday morning (3.8’ C) that’s stupid cold to me!

Hi Matt... in one of Mike Austin's videos he mentioned not to swing at the target, but at the ball, to the right of the target. So, is he saying not to swing down the target line, but maybe 30* to 45* right of the target line?
@yoursimplegolfswing
@yoursimplegolfswing 2 ай бұрын
Yes, that’s to create a draw, which gives more distance

@@yoursimplegolfswing Should we "square" to the target line and swing out on the angle, or should we swing standing square to the angle with the club face square to the target line?
@yoursimplegolfswing
@yoursimplegolfswing 2 ай бұрын
@ALBIE1950 if you want to hit a draw, square to the right of the target line. We always swing along the line established by the feet, knees and shoulders. Square to the left for a fade. Always square the club face to the target

Can you clarify the pivot action for me? My thoughts are such that if they are supposed to pivot between 4 o’clock on the back swing and 10 o’clock on the downswing if 12 o’clock is directly in front of you as opposed to rotating them - is that correct?
@yoursimplegolfswing
@yoursimplegolfswing 6 ай бұрын
It’s actually a compound action. In the backswing the bottom of your spine moves to the 4 o’clock position while your left hip rotates around the right leg. In the forward swing your spine pivots to the 10 o’clock position and this your left leg straightens your right hip rotates around the left leg. Sometimes it’s easier for people if they think of right hip back to 4 o’clock in the backswing, then right hip thrown towards 10 o’clock in the forward swing. But in each action you do the pivot in the rotate. Mike Austin described it as a tilt and a turn going back and a tilt and a turn going forward.
