this makes so much sense. I started playing in July 2023 so only 2 months now. I've always thought to avoid a baseball swing since I've played baseball all my life. Though that may be true, the transfer of momentum and energy from within the body still remain the same.

At the driving range today I just took my drier only because it was only a net about 50ft high by maybe 150ft long or more, enough to see a little bit of the ball to watch it sail off. Before I started a golf instructor showed up in another hitting pad waiting for someone, I said to myself, that's Paul Wilson in his disguise to see if I'm learning anything he teaches:), the first four balls I topped them, all tensed up, so I swung the club about a dozen times until I felt in control, I hit about 40 balls nice and easy, I wanted to stay there, it felt so great that I suppose I could have shot 4000 and not hurt a muscle. It's a rare feeling after all these years to finally head in the right direction, for me it's a lot of swinging, focus and discipline, it's well worth it folks. I'm 60 years of young age, I intend to swing effortlessly like Paul Wilson teaches, well into my 80's. By telling my side of the golf journey I give more than two thumbs up to support Doc Wilson, I don't to take anything free for too long. Hope I'm not out off line.

Good vid. Always found it silly when people post a video about the secret to hitting it long and claim it's one thing. The secret to hitting it long is putting it all together in an athletic explosive action. The odd thing is many shorter hitters over use the arms. They pull the arms too far across and behind the body in the backswing and then aren't athletic enough to get the arms back out in front during the downswing. They literally have to limit all their other power sources in an attempt to accomplish that, or maybe they go for it and their arms get left so far behind it's a disaster.

I have an interesting dilemma. I have fully adopted the Body Swing with the resultant consistent contact, trajectory, and no pain. What has been revealed is that my distances with the old (over)swing can’t be matched. At age 45, I am struggling with accepting the newer distance (10 - 15 yds less per club) even though the ball flight is pretty. Maybe I have maxed out with my more measured/under control swing and the only option left is a custom fitting?
@paulwilsongolf4 жыл бұрын
You are doing it too slow. It's time to start firing the lower body way harder to get the distance. Seems like you got the arms out which was you old power source. Now get good at the new one (legs and hips). Do this daily: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooayfYCilN-gm80

Tried out your techniques at the range yesterday. Hit it miles and realised I’ve wasted 5 years trying the “modern” style of less clubhead rotation and movement. It’s garbage. Yes, if you are working on hinging and rehinging. Once you get it, then you are not even thinking about it. @paulwilsongolf3 жыл бұрын
If you are chopping and contracting the the arms you are hitting. Part of loosening up is have loose wrists. This is loose wrists not a loose grip. @@paulwilsongolf Thank you very much. I had an injury to my left shoulder and realized that's there's no way I was ever going back to swinging the club as I did before. I need to gradually rebuild my golf swing through the drills you're recommending to teach me new motor skills. Often, I was very tired by the end of each round from putting so much effort into the swing. I was also frustrated with my inconsistent results. When I see photos of me I can't believe how far forward I am in my stance. It felt like was standing fairly upright but the photos don't lie. When I watch you hit the golf ball it looks effortless, and your posture is great. What are your thoughts on proper golf posture or drills to stop you from bending too far forward.?
@markliquorman934910 ай бұрын
I've got a problem. You say they majority of power is from hinging/unhinging the wrists. However, you illustrate this with a swing. If you just held the club in front of you and hinged/unhinged the wrists without swing your arms, how much power would you generate? I think it would be less than what you generate by swing the arms and holding the wrists fixed. I think the straightening of the trail arm provides more power than just unhinging the wrists.
@paulwilsongolf10 ай бұрын
The hinge is at the end or your arms. You are not just doing a dinky half swing. Of course your arms are going to move. What I don't want you doing is trying to hit with them. If you do, you tighten the hinge and lose power. It feels great but you hit the ball no where. Your arms are connected to your body. Move your body which moves your arms. There is a loose hinge at the end of the arms (wrists) which create the speed. So stop hitting, loosen the wrists and fire the lower body. If so you get all the power you need for life. Watch this video where I do nothing and get 100mph: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5CviGqkopmmqc0 If I can do that with that little effort would I not be able to do that when I'm 85 years old? Think of that as you watch me do it. If you are trying to hit when you are 85 you will literally hit it nowhere which is what almost every student I teach is trying to to and if they can fly a ball 200 yards it's a miracle.
