Well you've succeeded. I'm going to finish this last eight week cycle of strength training and then work with a local weightlifting coach who is, at the very least decent from what I've seen. I've put off learning the actual weightlifting movements for years and I don't know why as I've liked them since high school 15 years ago.

So glad I found your chan few weeks ago mate. You are doing an amazing work for novice like me. I'm still at the beginning of my journey into olympic lifting and mostly about strenght ( 120 and 100kgs at backsquat and front + 160kgs for deadlift). I don't know if you have a video showing what a backsquat session would be for you. From warm-up to accessories and rep/set itself. Or even snatch, C&J if you have. I'm doing a kind of crossfit base training but lifting and muscle up + handstand push up are the one I focus on since 3 weeks. Thanks for everything and keep making your videos, they are awesome!

@kyrie44516 жыл бұрын
These knowledge do not require a kinesiology degree. Reading a few good coaching books (essentials of s&c, periodisation for sports) and lots of research would give you the background knowledge. But experience coaching is very important. I have a kin degree, you would be surprised by how many people I went to school with do Not even know how to run, jump, throw, or perform basic lifts like squat and bench properly.

the cut off of the extension I noticed happening only by people that only low bar squat so far. because the low bar does not extend fully like a high bar squat. Not sure if this is the main cause but its a thing that I noticed with my trainees that prefer low bar squat over high bar.

Hey, Zack! Love your content! I have a question: I would like to learn oly later in my life, but for now my training is more strength-oriented. Should I learn clean or power clean firstly? I think that power clean requires more row strength and, more importantly, more upper-body strength (which is what I'm up to)
@derfranky96407 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael! I know I'm not Zack but let my try to answer your question. I think it depends on what you are trying to accomplish with your clean. If you ONLY want to implement it to build strength, power and explosivness, you are better off with the power clean. If you actually want to clean for the sake of lifting a lot of weight and getting specifically better at olympic weightlifting, I would learn the "full" clean from early on. In my own coaching experience I have found that learning the squat clean after being used to power clean is a LOT harder than starting directly with the squat/full clean!
@michaelns98877 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting!
@MTNHobbies7 жыл бұрын
I second what JafraCraft has mentioned. I think its much easier to transition to power clean after learning the squat clean, then the reverse. Many of the people I see doing power cleans have not learned how to utilize the hip extension, and just pull the weight off their thighs.

Boy I heard that Intro melody a thousand times. But one particular time it was in the background of a story. It kicked in at the exact moment as this guys wife got stabed in the heart by the cultists as he was held down. And this relationship and the characters were so fleshed out that I felt that way too much. That helplessness and shock just fucking got me real bad. And now every time I hear that tune I get this same feeling like some weird PTSD fuckin shit bro.

Zack which book would be the your first choice to learn periodization and programming as much as possible science and practice of strength training or periodization training for sports? bcs i dont have enough time it would be great to read your opinions
@Cin99997 жыл бұрын
Rasim Zeytunlu If you dont have time just pick a popular program by a good coach ...like texas methode, sheiko etc. Most programming is only losely based on science anyway because there isnt that much research about specific programming-patterns...you will learn about it by doing it As long as you try to progress over time in volume and intensity/weight it really doesnt matter if you do cowboy methode, sheiko, smolov, texas, cube etc.
