I am 6 months into weightlifting and the progress i have made whilst being self taught is solely because of zack. Thank you for such informative content. I even got introduced to clarence , sika strength and gabriel because of him. I lift at a commercial gym and ppl ask me if i have been coached, and i j show them this youtube channel.

So how do you check if your technique is right? Are you recording everything?
@РоманМещеряков-л2е3 ай бұрын
I used to be a weightlifter for more than 20 years. In 2001 wwc I won a silver medal in snatch 205kg and in total 445kg in category +105. Recently I came across your channel and was surprised. Your explanations of snatch are so professional. Despite of my experience I found out so many extremely useful things and I want to thank you. I hope you understood me because I'm Russian and not sure in my English at all.

Not very relevant, but after stalling on a 60 kg snatch max for 3 years, I hit 67.5 kg today. Thanks for all the entertainment, especially lift companion! Love the honest talk-segments and the all the animals

The exact same thing happened for me like 2 days ago. Feels good when the technical parts of the lift start coming together to get some heavy lifts in.

A well performed snatch is pure poetry in motion. The type of thing Michelangelo or Da Vinci would have marveled at, the perfect use of the body and physics.

I think one thing that needs to be mentioned in the "contact drill" is to NOT push your hips forward into the bar (hump the bar). Many new lifters think that "making contact" means just getting your body in contact with the bar any way possible, which leads to bad habits and poor form... The contact needs to be made the way you showed, after full extension and from the bar being brought into your body from the process of extending, not from pushing hips forward to meet the bar.

the fact that this video doesn't have 10x more viewers is mind boggling. Easily the best Snatch tutorial on youtube and I've watched 15+ trying to learn this bullshit. Great stuff.

Hey Zack, just wanted to tell you how thankful I am for this video. I can snatch 65kg but then it's like I'm blocked , I can power snatch 67.5kg so I know something isn't right. So I've gone back to basics and used your techniques. I've been drilling them over and over again. I've just worked upto 60kg repeats with much better technique. Thank you 💪

The Torokhtyi Drill or Hip Contact is an Eastern Bloc drill. Dmitry Klokov taught it to me in 2013 and it’s a drill they use often because people don’t make proper contact with the bar

I greatly appreciate your content and especially the ones like this where you go into depth on technique. I’m not a competitor or anything, but I’ve gone back and forth from powerlifting to weightlifting multiple times and your videos greatly help me with my technique. For someone who’s never trained for competition or anything in weightlifting I feel like my form is actually fairly good because of these types of videos. The way you progress to a full snatch is so different then most videos I see and it’s definitely a very optimal approach

finally found a newer video of yours here Zack...and to me its the best of the many many of yours and other lifters video's I have been looking thru, as a beginner hoping at 70yrs old to lift at Masters..due to remote location I am coaching myself thru your videos brother..I am having trouble dropping in the snatch, I can get 30kg up there, but my body just refuses to drop under the bar..its not fear, its just the legs wont bend...they will in a front and back squat, but not a snatch, so I going back to the start after 6 weeks...and this video helps heaps..thanks for your knowledge

Imagine the peace and love in this world if weightlifting was the only religion and Zack, Torokhity, Catalyst Atheltics were its disciples and prophets. "Our Father, who art in the gym, bless'd by thy Gains, Thy Gains be done on Snatch as it is in Clean and Jerks. Forgive us our Cross Fit gyms as we forgive those who Cross Fit in our gyms. Amen" ....

Zack, fellow Lenk here. 6’4 giraffe been doing crossfit for 2 ish years but my numbers in olympic lifts have plateaued. We go through maybe one olympic cycle a year so im never really getting better or maybe just 2% improvement. What advice would you give to get these up? Should I drop crossfit to one day and give each lift a day of their own?

I'm genuinely curious about this, what's going on with your nose? At this point it's become your signature quirk, maybe next time you could blow your nose very hard before starting to film? Or maybe you've tried that already and it didn't help?
