Stepping out of your comfort zone and pushing past your limits isn’t easy. Dr. Henry Cloud talks about the psychology of how and where we place limits. These limits are not your real limit, but your perceived limits. You can push yourself further, but your body and mind are getting signals saying that they can’t go any further. Dr. Cloud asks you to do an exercise: when you hit that limit, ask yourself, “what signal am I getting that this is the limit?” Becoming aware of your limits is the first step in pushing yourself further than you’ve been. Your limit might be coming from the internalization of outside views you’ve assimilated: a parent, a sibling, a teacher, your exes, philosophies, religious systems. You are capable of much more than you know.
