Thank you Tara for making a tutorial on Broadway singing; This was a video I needed to watch because I’ve never tried singing in this way or even knew how to start. I listened to a couple of Broadway songs for tenors, afterwards, I recorded my voice singing sections of the two songs, and applied the 3 principles of singing Broadway. I was a little shocked hearing my voice because it sounded quite a bit differently; However, I ended up growing to love my Broadway singing style timbre! The brassy, bright, nasally sound was more aesthetically pleasing compared to when I sing chiaroscuro. I definitely want to explore this path because at the end of the day I want a singing voice that I love and is most aesthetically pleasing. Broadway singing also opens the doors to more local theatre opportunities. I figure I can still work on other genres too.

projecting your voice doesn't necessarily require you to have a forward placement, it depends on where in your range is the best resonance for amplification (ie the more resonance you have while singing, the better you'll be at projecting your voice). it doesn't have to be an overtly nasal-sound in order to project your voice.

Constructive criticism: It seems to this noob that the acoustics in that room don't do the mic any favors when recording singing. Maybe some acoustic panels (if you don't have them already)? Could get something portable if you don't want to mess up the room on non shoot days. Alternatively, mic might be too far away so it's getting a bit more noise (with the distance between subjects, it's difficult to cover both of them with one, off camera mic)? That's a judgement call though, because maybe more viewers prefer not having a mic in the frame to having crystal clear audio. Not a pro here 😅, but I have some experience setting up streams for church services #coronachurch. Hers my $0.02
