You may want to get yourself a few bottles of sticker remover; they're like a quid a piece if I remember correctly, or perhaps even cheaper. If you remove lots of stickers, get yourself a big bottle of orange terpenes instead. Orange terpenes are mainly limonene, which is the main ingredient in sticker removal fluid.

When connected to your DSO with coax there was no 50 ohm terminator. There will be reflections on the coax that maybe the source of the jitter as the DSO triggers on a reflection pulse rather than the actual pulse. Please repeat with a 50 ohm termination at the DSO and look at the leading edge and trailing edges of the square wave for it's risetime and falltime. Still looks a great product. Good video review too.

I have the FeelTech Fy6900 60Mhz and it is awesome at only $90. There are cheaper models from FeelTech that costs about the same as the one you bough and has 2 channels. That one is also available with up to 100Mhz. They changed to a FPGA for the 6900 though so it maxes at 60Mhz but is more reliable. They recently made a new model that costs a lot more and trades the counter for a 3rd channel which is not worth it. It is really just the 6300 with a slightly different case.

If that is the case , then try a quality RG-316 type cable , I can almost bet ya that anomaly goes away.... I have seen it quite a few times.... I use those supplied cables for probes in signal tracers and DIY projects , I just cut one end off and that goes inside my project boxes or probe tubes .....Have a good one Mon Ami.

It looks like your GW-Instek (analog function generator) is a model 8020, right? If so, the digits on the display are _recovered_ by the generator, not used to _generate_ the signal. (This is well described in the manual and accompanying schematic). The display isn’t all that accurate. Based on my experience with that and other, similar GW-I models, my guess is that the cheap-o instrument you’re testing is hugely _more_ accurate as a frequency counter than the generator’s display. The thing that ultimately drove me to replace all of our analog function generators with DDS ones was the unacceptable frequency drift over temperature - up to a few percent. This is especially problematic as the instrument warms up over an hour sr so and/or ambient, as, for instance, when the sun passes the nearest window during the day. Assuming your DDS generator has a crystal oscillator for its MCU, that drift would be several decimal places out - making it a non-issue. On the other hand, the jitter you observed at the frequency limit will, most likely, always be worse with a digital instrument. Well, that, and the specs are often rather optimistic. Nice review. The 50 ohm termination thing can sneak up on all of us at one time or another. I believe the word you were looking for is ‘bandwidth’. If you make another video, your viewers might find that an interesting topic unto itself. Cheers.

My apologies if you’ve mentioned it in the video I haven’t watch the whole thing yet but I’m in the middle of some work and if I get distracted I wanted to be sure to get my comment. If you haven’t tried the feeltech 60 MHz full function generators… They’re pretty great in my opinion. I’m not as experienced as you are, but I do have a lot of precision gear by HP and Techtronics… A lot of which is too fancy for me to use. And I definitely couldn’t afford the stuff… But spent a few years looking and I got lucky and bought most of it untested or not working and replaced a few bad caps. Or a few small problems like that. That was the only way I could afford nicer gear. But I’ve been second-guessing that decision because there are a lot of very nice cheap pieces of test you’re coming out of China. when I saw those feeltech 60 MHz function generators… Especially the newer version… I had to jump on it. I’ve been happy with it! Especially for under $100 like Banggood puts them on sale and so do others from time to time! There are several very long forum posts on Eevblog discussing a few isolation problems and such but it seems they fixed quite a bit in the later generations. Love your channel as always! And anyone who says anything about your hands can go stuff it up their ass. It’s crap you have to put that in the description.... because of jerks prowling around the Internet. Everyone thinks they’re a professional with nothing else to learn… Shit man.... it’s much easier going through life realizing that we don’t know everything, and it’s awesome to learn stuff. The most important thing I’ve learned is that the phrase “I don’t know“ is such a freeing thing to say, And opens up a world of learning and possibilities!

@drtidrow5 жыл бұрын
There's a "swp" button right on the front panel, so I would assume it does. Problem I've had with the FeelTech variants is that they (as far as I can tell) don't provide a ramp out sync'ed with the sweep, so that you can show the frequency response of a circuit with x/y mode on your scope. They do have a VCO input line, though, so you can use a second function generator to generate a sawtooth or triangle wave to drive both the signal generator and the scope.
