In this video we are going to learn about creating curves in 3D and building complex 3D shapes by breaking them down to smaller surfaces. In this video we will be primarily using the xNurbs tool which is in the Studio license, but you can do most with the Loft tool. We will show the differences in surfaces to better understand some pros and cons.
If you are looking to purchase Plasticity you can use the code LEAD10 at checkout and get 10% off your purchase and help the channel out. www.Plasticity.xzy

youn are laterally the only channel that has actually described to me why you need to rebuild curves not just because it responds better

This a excellent tutorial. I learnt a great deal and am watching it for the third time to take in all the tips you give. Thank you for doing this. I would love to see more tutorials like this, even longer if you wanted. You smashed it out of the park.

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the praise! We do have a long car modeling series on here. While a few minor things have changed it should still be applicable if you are looking for some surfacing content. kzbin.info/aero/PLBDfGh8A8kXXglEZA2MGsn-U8z2pNCPny

Excellent tutorial ( especially the problem solving tips) it will be perfect if we can have a whole playlist of it you can do a part 2 ,3,4 and so on till the mouse is complete Not interested in mouse design itself but the problem solving tips will be a great asset at the end once the mouse is complete 💯🙏

Great suggestion! Let me give it some thought on how to best do that. maybe put it on my site where i can provide datasets a bit easier.

Great Video Matt, very nicely paced, how do you find the vertical mouse btw, Ive been a borderline evangelical zealot when it comes to the mx master 3, but always been intrigued by the vertical mouse!

Thank Peter! Yeah I have used a few other Mice over the years but I found myself getting a lot of wrist strain. The MX Vert isn't perfect but my wrist feels better. I don't use a 3d mouse anymore, just left hand on the keyboard and right on the mouse. I even switched back to a wired keyboard, pretty minimal :) My biggest gripe with the MX vert is that its taller so often when going from keyboard to mouse i knock it across the desk :)

Haha yep I can see that happening, lol well it's good to know if this one ever breaks it might be worth a go! I never used a 3d mouse they look good for navigating 3d environments but they look like they would be slow to model with

Thanks! I have a site www.learneverythingaboutdesign.com but i haven't put any Plasticity content there yet. Up until version 24.x it was a little too risky to make content. On this channel I do have the car modeling series as well as beginner modeling series in Plasticity. I do have it on my list to make a course this year walking through a complex design, just haven't gotten to it yet.

Thanks, Matt. Since you have done extensive surface modelling in Fusion 360, which product do you think is better for surface modelling-- Fusion or Plasticity?
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign Ай бұрын
Dangerous question :) There of course will be a disclaimer. I think building curves is easier in Fusion. Because you can drive tangency and curvature continuity (smooth) with constraints and work with precise inputs that helps depending on what surfacing you are doing. I think Plasticity surfaces in general are better quality and the xNurbs tools is a bit more forgiving when trying to do complex modeling, but it currently comes at the cost of the curve definitions. Curves are great in Plasticity but not being able to snap endpoints and drive tangency makes the curve creation/planning a bit more work.

Hi. Great tutorial. I have to decide to buy plasticity or not, but the main reason for me is if I can import stl files from web and make some modyfication. It’s possible in plasticity?
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign Ай бұрын
Sadly no not really. Plasticity can bring in a mesh file but you can't really do much with it. Plasticity is built as sort of a companion to Blender, which is a mesh modeling program. Depending on the modifications you want to make I would say use Blender or Fusion. I have done a few videos for the Autodesk YT channel on the subject. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r32qopKHf6p4q9Esi=XJbq_gPDxeLGyt3V Someone else did a follow up video as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ml64XpJ-hal6qbssi=5q1krxd9lIGR0W40
