The Luxembourgish grammar was actually introduced way longer before, it was only reformed in 2019. But it is true that no one really cares about it. And although there are no newspapers in Luxembourgish, there are actually some books. As a Luxembourger, I’m really happy to hear that someone is interested in our language. You did really well☺️

Thank you so much! It’s great to discover more bits and pieces of your language and how it’s formed, I find it truly interesting. I wish I had found some books but sadly I didn’t… hopefully next time!! Thank you for the comment and compliment, I appreciate it! ☺️

so interesting! Is Luxembourgish a romance language or a Germanic / English relate language? I'm curious to know which family it would belong to.

@@sheeliekittie9298 Luxemburgish is a Germanic language. I think it came from the Moselle Franconian language. That’s probably also why there are so many similarities with German. But it has also been influenced by French (which is a Romance language) :)

Cool story of Luxembourgish. It could be a GREAT idea to learn it. 🤔 Let's see what happens... 👍

oh wow, so glad to find this video as I know very little about Luxembourg! But there is another language youtuber who is of Luxembourgish origins, and his language learning thoughts and insights are so valuable. I recommend his channel, Hey It's Migu :)

@@BecomingaPolyglot yes I think you will also find his channel very motivating and helpful! the channel is 'HeyitsMigu' and he is in my opinion what I aspire for, rather than knowing say 20 languages at only a basic level, he shows what it is like to attain proficiency in 6 or 7. This is what I'd like to achieve for sure, but as I mentioned in my other comment, I'm struggling because I don't know how to let go of a language. THere are too many that I like or that I've started along the journey of my life, and so I'm confused, how do I know which one to keep or not keep >

There's never a bad language to learn and never a bad reason to learn a language. 💕 I love that you did this and admire that you went out and talked to people in it so soon after starting learning it!

@@BecomingaPolyglot wow that's an interesting list / assortment of languages! The truth is, Im not quite sure anymore because this is often my problem =( I tend to get really caught up on different languages, the idea of learning too many, but I want to be more 'selective' and hone down my list. I've way too much on my plate and some of them, i don't even think I genuinely WANT to learn it's just feeling like I HAVE to learn it, does that make sense? I tend to get overwhelmed with several of these language learning channels here and how people learn 10 or more languages, even up to 20! Then I feel quite dumb or something. But i'd like to really focus on a select few and feel that I'm solid, and proficient in them! How did you go about choosing the languages you want to focus on? thank you also for your replies always. =)

Honestly... I totally understand what you mean. I have that same feeling with for instance French, feeling like I HAVE to learn it. And it's weird because if there's one language that I would like to be fluent in, it is French. But somehow it is just not working out for me... I think I chose my languages based on interests not whether I will actually use it some day. Like for instance with Korean, I am a huge Kpop/kdrama fan and love the fact that I am picking up more and more words. Same for Chinese, it is such a fun puzzle to unravel. I only get truly invested in a language before holidays, like for instance when I went to Spain! Otherwise I am absolutely not strict with myself. I am a part-time English teacher and a University student, so my weeks a packed. And ever since Covid, I have been less strict about it all. I just learn/study as a hobby! And that makes my progress really slow... I honestly know that. When I solely studied Mandarin Chinese it went so much faster. But my mind has always been with Uni of which I am now graduating with honors (something I never really mention here!). So yea... I know how you feel! I do! Try to see if you can turn off that switch of wanting prestige. Because then I was able to see my language journey as the most fun hobby ever. And you only ever work on a hobby when you have the time and mind space to do so, no pressure needed! Hope it helps. :)

In den kleineren Dörfern hört man Luxemburgisch häufiger als in der Stadt

Oh yes that does sound logical! I guess, just like in the Netherlands, most internationals go to the bigger cities to work. Can I assume you’re from Luxembourg? What is true about you learning the language at school? And are they’re official grammar structures learned? ☺️

Wahnsinn. Muss auch hinzufügen, meine Verwandten sind 55 und 56 Jahre alt, also vielleicht hat es sich seitdem geändert, was das Schulsystem angeht.

Yesterday I watched a video that said public transportation is free in Luxembourg, but that video was from 2021, I think. And then I remembered your went there recently. So, is it true? Is it still free?
