I'm so excited about your feedback about the CPE, I'm studying to improve my writing and I'm glad to know that important to practice essays, reviews and letters formal and informal, because it's actually what I'm doing. I going to keep in mind about listening to podcasts like BCC for the different topics that they have. By the way, I love the funny way you explained your experience, is the first time I've seen your video and I'd love it, you won a new subscriber. Greetings from Paraguay. 🇵🇾♥️.

Weird Luxembourgers critizising her for at least learning some basics for such a short trip while being fully aware that people live in this country that stay for 10+ years and are not even willing to even say the slightest 'Moien' smh. Yes she has a strong accent and everybody would know that she is indeed Dutch; but it's perfectly understandable; which is expected because most Luxembourgers can fairly well understand some Dutch without ever learning it. She's doing great.

As someone who has gone through Old Irish as well, this was really interesting to watch! I did not go the flashcards route, so seeing how you split the vocab into different parts was an interesting insight.

I found your channel via the Czech video, because I just started learning it myself … Realized you dropped the language quickly, but then stayed for the vibes. I’m actively learning five languages, with two on the back burner, one planned, and a few abandoned. Your polyglot aspirational energy is relatable and refreshing! ❤

Dualingo Irish is not very good for pronunciation. I wonder if the Scottish Gaelic is any better ? Any native speakers got an opinion ?
@BecomingaPolyglot2 ай бұрын
oh yes it would be great to know what native Scottish Gaelic speakers think of Duolingo. And thank you for your thoughts on Irish. I am actually going to study Modern Irish next block. But you're not a fan of Duolingo I gather? Do you have another resource you prefer for modern Irish? :)

Wow, that looks intense! What were your classes like? Were they grammar focused, or did they guide you through the process of translating sentences?
@BecomingaPolyglot2 ай бұрын
Hi! Mostly grammer focussed during block 1, and translations in block 2. It takes quite some skill to be able to translate such old texts, so I really struggled with that! Plus, it all went super fast. 6 hours of class a week wasn't even enough for me, I need more time to be able to fully understand this.

I am studying modern Irish (not very far yet) and I’m wondering if Old Irish is very different? What made you interested in Old Irish as opposed to modern?
@BecomingaPolyglot3 ай бұрын
@PumpkinMozie Oh that is great! Which resources are you using for learning Modern Irish? My University is one of the only ones who has an entire Celtic bachelor. Learning Old Irish is one of the first courses. As I am studying English Lit in a historical perspective, I thought it to be great to know some old languages too (old english, welsh etc). I want to use this knowledge to be able to read manuscripts later on in my studies! :)

@BecomingaPolyglot3 ай бұрын
Hi @ryanwondertroll ! Ah good question. Yea right now I have my bachelors degree as an English teacher. If I were to do a masters (with which I can teach at higher education and University) then an A grade is needed. At least, that's what I have learned from my friends who did the masters already. Hope this helps!

Ahhhh, congratulation on graduating! Hearing your updates was fun! I dropped off my language learning last year to focus on my trauma healing and homeschooling my kiddo but I'm at a better place now and starting to pick things back up finally! I'm thinking about focusing on Norwegian and Spanish but I do miss Korean quite a lot. I would need to start Norwegian and Korean almost completely over though since it's been almost a year since I last was in it. That summer road trip sounds amazing! I hope you have an amazing time!

Heyy it is so great to hear from you again!! Last year must have been a terribly difficult year... but I am glad to hear you took the time to heal, good for you! In those moments you sometimes need a reset and rediscover the things that are truly important. Last summer I couldn’t do anything because of the loss of a family member, all I did was read novels, it made me feel calm. I can totally relate how you feel towards Korean, damn hahaha whenever I hear it somewhere I get that sudden spark of motivation to study. And how cool would it be to be able to speak some Korean! I mean, being able to read it was already quite a challenge haha good luck studying and it’s so great to hear from you again! 🫶🏻
