Man I could have really used this as a kid! Like we spent so much time learning things I don’t need to use as an adult but nothing about the stuff I need to know as an adult like taxes! Or investing! Insurance!

The absoulte best time to save and invest is when you are in your 20s (or even earlier with help from a parent to set up an account). Time is the best moneymaker. You could invest $X per month from ages 20-30 and never invest another penny and you will end up with more money than someone who invests the same $X every month from age 30 to 65. If you are a young person or you have kids PLEASE start them saving early. I was so fortunate to have parents and grandparents that taught be to save and invest.

My friend's son told me that they never taught him how to get or use a checking account, how credit cards worked, how to get a car loan, or anything useful. why would educators think that knowing basic chemistry is more important than basic personal finance? I've never used chemistry in my life.
@johndell867911 ай бұрын
Maybe their parents should cover some of that stuff?
@billfreeman591411 ай бұрын
@@johndell8679That’s probably the expectation but all too often the parents could use the same lessons.🤔

Honestly, knowing basic science helps so much in a general understanding of how the world works. I agree though, finances should be taught as well
@chrisbrooks669711 ай бұрын
@@piiinkDeluxe Sure basic science is useful, I'm talking about my high school chemistry class, with moles and a bunch of math that I can't even remember. The only chemical formula most people know is H2O. It was interesting, don't get me wrong, but honestly if we're talking about preparing me for the future, it was a waste of my time. If any one class could be dropped in exchange for finances, it would be chemistry.

When Penn quit his TV news anchor job years ago to go into business with Kim, it was originally to do fun ad videos like this for companies. If you watch their old Christmas Jammies video from about 10 years ago, it explains it. (Now I kind of seem like a stalker. I swear, I'm just a big fan.)
